Ms. Lee’s Kindergarten

This year has been an amazing and exceptional year! Having been able to spend the first year of

my teaching career with this class was indefinitely a memorable

one. We all started on different levels when we came in August,

some with eager minds to pick up books and read while some were

eager to learn their letter names and sounds. But, we all had the

same goals in the end: to become independent little learners with

the appropriate social, cognitive, and behavioral skills to succeed!

We had our share of laughs and our share of hardships, but each

day was a day filled with memories and lessons that I am sure we

all will never forget J Just like the last picture, as much as we have

grown in our learning abilities, in the end we never forget the inner

kid inside of us!

May is for memories…

Mrs. B’s Kindergarten

Even though we are the biggest elementary

class in the school, we accomplished some

serious learning with some serious fun! I am

very proud of the accomplishments of all my

students. They have come a long way from

being the shy kindergarteners they once

were. I have to give a shout-out to my

remarkable parents too. If it wasn’t for your

support, our year would have been

completely different! Thank you for all you

did!

Mrs. Runyon’s 1st Grade

Parents, I want to say a big thank you for allowing me to be your child's teacher

this year. I have enjoyed getting to know the students and watching them grow

socially and academically. The firsties have worked hard this year and I am so

proud of them. They are a great group of kids. Good luck in second grade.

Funny moments from the first grade students:

During a math class a student says, "Mrs. Runyon, your

hair is turning white." I replied, "Is that math talk."

One morning a sweetheart walks in and says, "I'm sick; my mom said I have

kidneys." Another student who hears the conversation replies, "Everyone

has kidneys." The other students say, "No."

At the beginning of the year I was reading from our science big book about

the Florida Panther. One of the cuties raised his hand and said, "Mrs.

Runyon, I live in Florida." I said, "Me too! How cool."

Cooking lesson: One day one of the firsties and I were talking about dinner.

He told me he had fried chicken for dinner and he went on to say his mom

made the best fried chicken in the world. I told him I was not good at frying

chicken but I would really like to know how. Afterwards, he told me it was

real easy. All you had to do was put flour on it and put it in a pan of hot

water to fry until it was done. No wonder I cannot fry chicken I always put

it in oil.

Again, thank you so much for letting me be your child's teacher this year.

-Mrs. Runyon.

Ms. Maysonet’s 1st Grade

May was a fun filled month! We are quickly wrapping up the end of the year for 1st Grade. It has been such a joy to have all 18 of my students for my very first class ever! They have taught me so much! We were given the opportunity to go on a field trip to a baseball game with

all class from kindergarten to fifth grade. We were given tasty hot dogs and chips to enjoy as we watched. Although it was mighty sunny, it was still super fun! In the classroom we focused a lot on 2D and 3D shapes, as well as talked about our future, and what we want to do when we grow up. As the last week of school approaches, I am sad to see them go, but I also look forward and am confident that my students will continue to excel in second grade! Thank you for all of your help in making this an amazing year!

-Ms. Maysonet

Parents, help your children stay on top of the learning game, encourage them to do the summer packets the teachers have given to them.

The activities included will help our student keep their minds sharp and make them even more ready to move up to the next grade.

Ms. Spear’s 2nd Grade Report As the school year comes to a close, it will be really sad to see the students go. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child's educational journey. The second graders have worked very hard this year to prepare themselves for third grade. I know they are

ready for the challenge! Please remember to continue reading and working from the packets that we have sent home. The content of the packet is intended to help remind your child of everything we have learned all year. With that said, enjoy the summer break. P.S. Here are some of the wonderful moments

we had in second grade this year! -Ms. Spear

Mrs. Lewis’ 2nd Grade Report

When we started back in August last year, there were so many goals to be accomplished. Now, I can gladly affirm how satisfied I am with the efforts of my students. They have all worked really hard to strengthen their weaknesses and now they are ready to march on to 3rd grade. Thanks to everyone who contributed in one way or another to

help us have a successful year. These pictures share a glimpse of my reflection for the year that has passed.

4th Grade Report

Fourth grade was quite fun and exciting this year. Our

Social Studies standards aligned well with the various

holidays and celebrations to make our learning experience

even more rounded. Here are some highlights of our year

together.

Fifth Grade Fun!!!

every bit of our learning journey!

Mr. Ates’ Turkish Class Report

Turkish class was always interesting and fun!

Throughout the year we did very well exploring

aspects of the Turkish culture. Here we share

snipbits of what he did with you.

Garden Club Reflections

Garden club was a lot of

fun this year and plans are

already being made for

next year. We tried to

grow several fruits and

vegetables, and we also

had fun picking Florida

grown strawberries. We

were fortunate to

experience the beauty of

our blooming sunflowers

just as spring was ending. I

must extend my sincerest

gratitude to all those who

helped us to have a

wonderful year, especially

Miss Mary. Until next

year…plant a seed, grow a

tree!

Fitness Fun with Ronald McDonald

On May 14, the students were treated to a morning of fantastic fun! They

observed closely as Ronald McDonald performed his

tricks, and they listened attentively as he encouraged

them to keep fit.

NSS Fundraising Report

Congratulations to Miss McGuigan’s 3rd

grade for contributing the most coins in

our ‘Change for Choice’ fundraiser. They

gave a total of $145.37!

We also thank all the other students who

contributed to our grand total of over

$1000. With the money we raised, we

were able to successfully fund Field days

for both Elementary and Middle schools.

NSS Field Day Fun!!!

On the last 2 days of school NSS students,

teachers, parents, and other volunteers had a

blast! Although the days were sunny and

humid, nothing stopped the fun, especially

with the water hose in Mrs. Oz’s hands, and

the water balloons in Ms. Weaver’s.
