Notebook• A notebook is REQUIRED!!!• Please have one by the time you come back to

class.• A 3 ringed binder will work best…you will

receive a lot of material from me!!• Dividers or plastic page protectors are

required to help keep you organized.

Remind101• Online communication tool I will use to

remind you of homework, quizzes, and/or tests.

• Optional!• You AND your parent(s)/guardian(s) can sign

Classroom Rules• 3 Important Rules to Follow:–Be on time.–Be prepared. –Be respectful.

Other important things to remember:

Please do not touch anything on my desk without permission.Please do not come behind my desk unless instructed to do so.Please do not leave the room without permission and a hall pass (unless it is an emergency).Treat others like you want to be treated!!!

Classroom Procedures

• Checking out books– Books must be signed out on the form by the

door– You will NOT check out a book from the class

set…there are books designated for checking out– You will also fill out a debt form before leaving

with the book– You must return the book the next day– You will be responsible for damaging or losing

the book

• Make Up Daily Work– It is YOUR responsibility to make up any work that

you miss when you are absent.– Only applies when absence is EXCUSED– Check Edmodo DAILY for Biology and Physical

Science assignments– I will provide missed material when I get your

excuse– You will have THREE days to turn work in!

• Make Up Missed Test– It is YOUR responsibility to make up a test

that you miss when you are absent• Schedule a time to do so before or after school

–Only applies when absence is EXCUSED– You will have TEN days to make up test

Classroom Procedures

• Re-testing a failed test– Re-test Request Form must be completed with the

appropriate signatures– Must occur within two weeks after the failed test,

unless extenuating circumstances arise (illness, Death of a Family Member, etc)

– Re-test must be done BEFORE or AFTER school– It is YOUR responsibility to set this up with me. I

must know when you plan to make up the test!!

Benchmark Testing• Tests given to determine what you know and

what you learn• Cover all content• First test given next week– NOT for a grade

• Four additional tests– Will go PowerSchool as a grade• Grade will be calculated from content material covered

Work Ethics Grades• Monthly TEST grade• Grade determined using a rubric• Based on behavior, participation, etc• Be good…get a good grade

Directed Study Time• Program designed to provide additional

instructional support/remediation to students before, during, and after school.

• Take place in Room 304 during an elective class– PE, weights, etc.

• Complete assignments on Edgenuity• Amount of time in Directed Study depends on

progress

Technology

• Bring Your Own Device…BYOD• You are encouraged to bring and use your cell

phone, iPad, Android Tablet, Laptop, etc. to school to use for academic purposes in the classroom

• Please bring them fully charged…you will NOT be allowed to charge your device in my room.

Technology…Cell Phones• New District policy allows you to use your cell

phones at school– You can call/text during breakfast, lunch, and after school– You can have your phone out when walking in the halls– You CANNOT call/text during class– You CANNOT listen to music when walking down the

hall…no earbuds in your ears– You can listen to music through earbuds in my room

when specified• If this privilege is abused in my classroom it will be

taken away

Technology…iPads• 9th and 10th graders will receive iPads• These are to be used for academic purposes• You will be given a list a Apps to download that will

be used in this class• You are not allowed to do the following during class:– Take pictures/videos (unless approved by teacher)– Snapchat – Play games– Facebook/Twitter– Browse the internet for personal reasons

• Your iPad privileges can and will be taken away

Edmodo• An online networking application where

teachers and students can communicate– Facebook for the classroom

• App for iPad or can be accessed via desktop• You will be given class code when you get your

iPad

Edmodo Uses• Assignments will be posted and turned in (on

occasion)• Videos/Images will be posted– You will be asked to view and then comment

• Blogging will take place…I will post a topic and you will be required to comment and then comment on a comment made from a classmate

Flipped Classroom• Students watch videos at home that explain

content material • Communicate with teacher and classmates via

online discussions/blogs• Complete learning activities/labs in the

classroom with help from teacher(s)
