“Fruit of the Vine, Work of Human Hands” Catholic Citizens of Illinois Wine Tasting and Dinner
Wednesday, 6 October, 2021—Carlisle Banquets in Lombard Speaker—Fr. Joseph Fessio, SJ
Founder of Ignatius Press and a vineyard tender in California’s Sonoma Valley
At the beginning of His ministry, our Lord changed water into wine. At the end, He changed wine into the very blood of God, and commanded that we remember Him in this sublime gesture until the end of time. Why wine? What is it about this subtle, complex, mysterious, superfluous, nuanced ever-evolving beverage that fits it to be one of the species used in the confection of the Holy Eucharist? These and other questions regarding the connection between the cultivation of grapes, crafting of wine and the Catholic life will be addressed by Fr. Joseph Fessio, SJ at a wine tasting and dinner hosted by Catholic Citizens of Illinois.
Wine tasting will begin at 5:30 Followed by dinner and presentation by Fr. Fessio
Tickets ($75) can be purchased online at: catholiccitizens.org

Every year in August, usually around the time the Canons Regular pray Rosary in Vespers in the late afternoon, an interesting phenomenon takes place in St. John Cantius Church. Rays of light from the setting sun shine through the open center doors of the church and illuminate the mural of the Resurrection on the apse dome making it glow with an otherworldly luminescence.
