NEW 'FLYING TRIANGLE' ACTIVITY FRIGHTENS MANY WITNESSES.

We were hardly expecting an announcement, but the long predicted return of the Flying Triangles (''We will see them in increasing numbers"- Bob Dean), caught us on the

hop.

We at first received reports of what may have been a laser light show over Derby, during the night of Saturday 27 April. Your editor subsequently appealed for any witnesses in a recent issue of the Derby Telegraph. As a result of this, over 30 witnesses rang up during

the first evening of the newspaper appeal. In approximate numbers, 25% were confused with the sighting of the planet Venus, another 25% saw the light show over the city of Derby, but

50% of the witnesses described seeing huge glowing Flying Triangles over several previous nights!

The most alarming and best documented incident took place along the ASO road near Burton-on-Trent in the early hours of 1 May, this was followed by similar events along the same stretch of road on 2 & 3 May. (The incident is described fully in this newsletter).

Other sightings, mainly by a number of elderly ladies who happened to peep out of

their curtains in the early hours, confirmed that FT's were here again in force! We also

received a number of other reports from around the country, including several from the newly formed UFO group in Sheffield. An interesting point made by many of the witnesses was that the FT's were either glowing green or had a number of green lights visible around or at various points on the FT craft.

On Friday evening the 17th May, your ecjitor travelled to Colchester and gave a talk on Crop Circles and the latest Flying Triangle incidents to the Essex UFO group, run by Ron

West. Following the talk, Ron reviewed the latest reports in the Essex area and yes, you've guessed it, there was an abundance of FT reports. There was one unusual feature mentioned

and that was, the FT's interest in lonely motorcyclists travelling along country roads at night. According to one motorcyclist in Essex, he was followed by a huge Flying Triangle and it came so low that if he had a long broomstick handy, he could have touched it!

In a later discussion, Ron stated that UFO's of all types (including FT's) had been seen over local nuclear power stations. During 1995, over 100 observations had been made over the Sizewell (Suffolk) nuclear power station and more than 30 over the Bradwell power station at Bradwell near Colchester.

Are we to believe that the aliens are very concerned over our use of Atomic Energy?

If they have designs on our planet, then the last thing they would want is for the Earth to be contaminated with radioactive material, with possibly a half-life of 5,000 years! Maybe they don't want to wait that long before they decide to land here and settle?

POSTAL DRIVERS SHOCKING JOURNEY

In the early hours of Wednesday 1 May 96, postal driver Mr T.J. was travelling on his nightly route which runs between Derby, Burton-on-Trent and Swadlincote. It was a journey that the driver had travelled frequently over the previous three years. They were routine journeys delivering parcels between the various postal depots, normally without incident and 'Tom' had no reason to believe that this night was going to be any different.

Tom takes up the story:-

I was driving a Post Office mail van along the A50 Swadlincote to Burton-on-Trent road. It was approximately 1. 50 am as I approached the Stanhope Arms Hotel. It was just after passing the Chesterfield Arms, that I noticed a bright light in the sky ahead of me and slightly to my right. It appeared to be descending and coming in my direction. It was a dark night, but clear. As I passed the Burton golf course, the houses to my right obscured my view of it. For some unknown reason, I stopped at the Bretby htne junction, (I could. see up Bretby lane).

The object passed across Bretby lane, over the houses and it appeared to be low. To me, it appeared just above the houses. It was very large, very bright and had lots of bright lights, I noticed a green light at the rear. I thought, it looked like the USA Space Shuttle in shape and size, as I have seen it on TV after it has landed.

I could see some windows, square, but rounded in the corners. It crossed over Bretby lane and to me at least, it seemed to be going very slow, almost in slow motion! It then disappeared behind the houses. It made no noise, it was SILENT. I may be wrong, but to me it appeared to be approx. 200 yards away from me when it crossed over Bretby lane.(see map)

Tom's comments on the UFO Sighting Account Form are given below.

I could see on the illuminated watch on the dashboard that I was ten minutes late. I knew this by knowing my normal time at this spot (Bretby lane). The sighting overall was some ten minutes, although the sighting at Bretby Lane lasted only 10 to 20 seconds.

At this point we will pause in and reveal further details of the incident in order to clarify what happened on the subsequent nights of the 2nd (Fhursday) and 3rd May (Friday).

Tom travelled on this journey in tl\e early hours of 1 May. On the 2 May, this trip was undertaken by a relief driver (who later arrived at the sorting office· in a state of shock). On 3 May, Tom returned to his normal route, Derby, Swadlincote, Burton­on-Trent and had a further frightening experience.

We now continue with Tom's report •••• The colour of the object was greyish, with lots of very bright lights and a green light at the rear (the same as a traffic light green colour). It travelled very slowly. During the first sighting, it appeared the size of a ten pence piece, but on the second sighting (3 May), it was the size of a U.S. Space Shuttle! The object appeared in the WNW and flew off in the direction of ESE. In answer to the reason why he thought it was unusual, Tom replied: "Firstly the bright light in the sky, descending towards me to my right and secondly when I had stopped, the sheer size of it with all its lights and how slow and silently it was when it crossed Bretby lane." "It could not have landed on Derby football ground, it was too big!"

Tom has also disclosed that he has since suffered a certain amount of trepidation and anxiety about the two incidents ..... our investigation continues.

The unprecedented UFO activity at present has meant that our organisation is working full out to keep up with events. 26 Southport: 2.45am A Hovering Flying Triangle with a central green light, making a penetrating 'booming' sound. Moved offW toE at high speed. (NLUFOS)

7 Derby: 0945 2 silver discs heading N.E. at approx. 300mph at a height of approx. 4, OOOft.

28 Chellaston, Derby: 0145 Bright light reported. Also a 'spinning top'.

29 Weather details: 2230 Venus very bright in NW and the comet visible.

APRIL

1 Chaddesden, Derby: 2100 A bright star-like light moved across the sky with a stop-go motion.

1 Sutton-in-Ashfield: 2130 Two red pulsating lights seen slowly heading NW.

2 (night of the 1st) 0054 Shelton Lock, Derby: A huge round brilliant white light seen at low altitude and in the direction of the Rolls-Royce works. It made a humming noise.

3 Night of the moon eclipse

4 0100 Solent, Hampshire, woman on the Isle of Wight saw a FT. Later two amateur astronomers reported seeing a FT to the local Portsmouth Police. An orange star

approached and changed into a Flying Triangle (FT).

5 PM Derby: Bright ball with 'green jets' seen by a woman witness.(awaiting detailed report)

MOTHER EARTH The Truth

In the Summer Nineteen Ninety, when the heat was quite intense. I dra w to your attention, a chain of strange events. Things have happened to me, and to some of my best friends , A phenomenon is happening, and the mystery never ends .

I remember reading somewhere, of a circle in the corn, It appeared due west of where I live, and just before the dawn A compelling feeling told me, that I really ha� to go, So I left home fairly quickly, and drove 40 miles or so .

As I reached the Vale of Pewsey, and The \Vhite Horse on the hill The sight I saw beneath me, ga ve my bones a sudden chill. There stretched out below me, 60 metres down the field, A pictogram of many shapes, what secrets would it yield?

Since then I've seen so many, and walked in quite a few, and I've the strangest feel�ng, that the patterns hold the clue. I've heard so many answers, from folks who think they know, but the truth to this enigma, unfolds very, very slow.

You must draw on all conclusions, and don't laugh at anyone, cause the answer is in .all of us, who live beneath the Sun. Our Mother has a problem, and a problem we have made, and She tries to tell us slowly, in the corn She gently lays.

Younger brothers do not listen, and the time is getting short, so Mothe r has to frig�ten us, but as a last resort, she '11 conjure up the evil winds, that trvill move the Seven Seas, And move the molten mountains, and bring countries to their knees .

Then we shall see a vision, like the World has never seen, Something will come with light and sound, to end our nightmare dream. From that day on the world will change, in every way we know, and those that come will help us all, to make the whole World grow.

So litt le men of power, who never got things right, and are probably laughing at this now, will get the biggest fright. Your money will mean nothing, and povvers not the key, the answer simply balance, and perfect harmony.

The Evening Sky May 1996

A lone bright 'star' dominates the evening sky during and after t\vilight dusk. Venus, shining just above the horns of Taurus the Bull in the western sky, is magnificent and will be visible throughout the month reaching its brightest on May 4th.

Venus \vas named by the Romans who saw her as the voluptuous goddess of love. By the Greeks she was called Aphrodite. To the Babylonians she was Ishtar. The Sumerians named Venus Inanna, the queen of the heavens and mistress of fertility and renewal.

Modern \Vestern science with its high­tech computerised view of the world considers the movements of planets as simply those of machines. In doing s_o, formal science education continues to isolate itself from the general public.

We are mind, body and spirit and \vhen \Ve look at Venus \Ve do not see an object governed by Newton's Laws of Motion. We see what our ancestors, the Babylonians saw, a wonderful, spiritually uplifting light shining on and on across the universe.

The full M.oon occurs on May 2nd and you may notice that all the little animals will be excited. Nature lovers, take advantage and stroll out in the glory of a spring evening listening to the sounds of nature all around and gaze at the brilliance of the full Moon.

The media have made a lot of fuss about comet Hyakutake. Unfortunately, not many people have observed this comet because it is very difficult to locate and

unless you know exactly where and what to look for, you \Vill not see Hyakutake. A pair of binoculars \vould be of great help. The photographs you see of Hyakutake are all taken \Vith the aid of telescopes!

'Abandon hope, all ye \vho enter here!'. This was the inscription Dante put over the gates of hell and this inscription would also be the n1ost appropriate warning to spaceships approaching a black hole. Black holes are a one way exit from our universe. Their mass is millions or billions times greater than that of our star the Sun, and yet, all cramped into a tiny space.

The gravitational force of. a black hole is so great that nothing, not even light can escape. However, even black holes are a source of mystery and beauty. Their interiors are removed from our universe and once inside, space and time magically intertwine.

Relativity and Quantum Mechanics 0\'cr the past months I ha\'e rec.eived_����ns of.��stions regarding the circumstances surroundi�g the origin of the uni\'erse and bow it is possible the universe ·eould have originated from nothingness. Relativity and Quan�um Theory are quite

difficult to grasp, and the answer' to .tll�..:�Big Bag; question 'lies within those theories. If you 'do·-�ot quite understand the

paragraphs below don't worry- just get � feel for the .energies and scales invol\'ed in '1be Standard Model'

State of the art physics is .embodied in a theory called the Standard Model, in which all matter and forces .are accounted for by astonishingly ·few types of particles. Six quarks and six1 leptons make up all possible fonns of matter. In practice just two of the quarks (Up and Down) and one lepton (Electron) account for everything in the world except for a few whiffs of exotic stuff produced only in high energy physics.

These 12 particles (and their corres­ponding particles of antimatter) are acted upon by 'messenger particles' that carry all of the known forces.

Quantum mechanics states that you need a certain length of time to measure a particle's energy or mass to a .given degree of accuracy. If the time is very brief the uncertainty becomes larger than the particle's entire ·mass and you cannot say whether the particle is there at all.

The lighter the particle, the longer is its uncertainty time. In the case of an electron/positron pair the uncertainty time )cale is about 20 million, million, million millionths of a second. On time scales shorter than this, virtual electrons and positrons can and do pop in and out of apparent nothingness.

The theory of general relativity, which sho\vs the force of gravity to be a curvature of space-time, needs to be integrated \vith quantum mechanics \vhich shows forces to be virtual particle exchanges. The gravity messenger particle is called the Graviton. In essence, Gravitons define the structure of space­tinle itself.

The reconciliation of quantum· mechanics and general relativity is leading to dran1atic new notions of the nature of

space and time.

Super-string theory says that the fundamental objects of nature are one­dimensional lines rather than points, the elementary particles ·we measure, being only oscillations of these strings. Super­string theory, however, only works if space-time has 10 different din1ensions -'orbifold space'.

Space-time foam is a sea of quantun1 worm holes appearing and disappearing in 'Planck time'. Space-time foam is implicated in spawning infant universes which can create Big Bang universes. Big Bang and what came before can spring from a previously existing space­time, break away completely while still microscopic and inflate with matter to become new universes, completely disconnected from their space-time origin.

The amount of latent energy in space-time fluctuations is staggering: one cubic centimetre amounts to 10 billion, billion times the mass of all the galaxies in the universe. It is unnerving to think that bet\veen your eyes and this page ne\v universes are being spawned out and a\vay fron1 your quiet space-time every instant.

Space-time is a kind of layered cake, the topmost layer containing quarks and electrons (ordinary matter). The next, a layer of virtual particles carrying the electromagnetic weak and strong forces. Deeper still, the 'Higgs field' which gives quarks their mass. Finally, the lowest stratum of all, the gravitational field. There is more of this field wherever mass is present in layers above it, but there is nowhere where it is entirely absent. No\v, if you have managed to read to the end of this paragraph go and make yourself a nice cup of tea. You deserve it!

These are just a few sightings highlighted for Area Sl. I have many

reports for that night but they do have to be investigated. The UFO activity in Sheffield has trebled in recent weeks, cigar shapes in Firth Park,Flying Saucers over Hillsborough and thP. disturbing "Sky Flashes" sighted in every part of Sheffiel.d and "douth Yorkshire.

MYSTERY AT SOUTHPORT! According to the Southport Visiter newspaper, a Flying Triangle startled car drivers as it flew around a field near Meols Cop Road at 6pm on 1 March. "This thing was unreal . It was sort of triangle shaped with a white light in each corner and a square green light in the middle" said one witness. Other car drivers and passengers watched in amazement as at first, it remained motionless for five minutes and then started going around the field for a minute or two. Then it stopped and the lights gathered together and without warning it flew off
