Aloha!

Coventry Farms, Oak Leaf Farms, and Copyfax2000 are proud to present the 2012 Annual Luau Horse Show to benefit the Caring Tree of Big Bend Hospice. If you are unaware of this free community service, the Caring Tree program helps children and teens in Leon and surrounding counties who have experienced the death of a loved one. The Caring Tree reaches out to young people living with pain and loss by

offering school and community grief, suicide and crisis support groups and education. Because the Caring Tree receives 100% of its funding through donations, the support offered to them through events like the Luau is

critical to their continued success

Thank you so much for your continued support of this unique local charity!!!

THANK YOU!!

n February of 2002, Saskia Stockwell was grocery shopping when a seizure caused her to lose muscle control and quickly left her unconscious. Subsequent tests revealed an astrocytoma—a

brain tumor—that required surgery and radiation treatment at Emory University Medical Center in Atlanta. To receive the radiation treatments, Saskia and her husband, Chris, had to move into a home near the hospital for several weeks. Although the payments for the housing were reduced for patients, the expense was still considerably challenging for the young couple. To help offset the cost of housing and travel, Coventry Farm barn members Mary Margaret Hodges and Natalie Zajac, a co -worker of Saskia, organized the first Luau Show. Various fundraising events were coordinated by members of the barn family and $4500 was raised. Saskia enjoyed a clean bill of health from the spring of 2003 until the spring of 2005 when 3 new tumors were located. She received radiation surgery in July 2005 with successful results. However, two new tumors were located in October 2006, and Saskia subsequently passed away in February 2007.

A Brief History of the

Luau Show

For the last seven years, Coventry Farms has continued this tradition of giving back to the Tallahassee community by pairing with Big Bend Hospice to raise funds for it's Caring Tree Program—a free and unique community service providing grief education and support to children and teens in Leon and surrounding counties who have lost a loved one. Life continues to go full circle in so many unexpected ways, and so it is with great sadness that we make this addition to the Luau history. On February 27, 2010, Ed Zajac passed away at Big Bend Hospice from brain cancer. Ed's wife, Natalie Zajac, was co-founder of the very first Luau held all those years ago for Saskia Soler-Stockwell, who also died of brain cancer. Ed was a beloved and active supporter of local equine activities for many years. He is deeply missed by all who knew him. Our equine family also lost another much-loved member, Lawson Mayfield, who died late in 2009 of meningitis. Lawson was a

Feb. 8, 1950 - Feb. 27, 2010 friends and family would all agree that her positive impact here will be felt for years to come.

This year, Coventry has partnered with Oak Leaf Farm and Copyfax2000 to bring you the Luau Horse Show to once again help benefit the Caring Tree. Thank you for your continued support of this extremely worthwhile and unique local community program.

Tribute

Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain. For purple-mountained majesties, above the fruited plain.

America, America, God shed His Grace on thee. And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.

With gratitude to all of my brothers and sisters, human and otherwise.

Much Love, MB
