Students should not arrive to school earlier that 8:50 unless they are enrolled in the Family Service program or are having breakfast at school which begins at 8:30. At 8:50, students may enter the building through the front door and report to the gym. There will be supervision in the gym and students will be asked to sit in grade level groups until the 9:00 bell rings. At 9:00, students will be dismissed by grade level to walk to their
classroom, where they will be greeted by their teacher. As you drop off your child, please follow traffic signs and pull out after your child has safely exited your vehicle so the next car can pull in. If you plan to come into the building with your child, please park in the parking lot and walk around to the front door. Please use the crosswalks before and after school. Do not cross over the median. The after school bell rings at 3:38 and students will be asked to follow their designated after-school plan. Adult supervision will be on all sides of the building during dismissal. Please make a plan with your child each morning as to whether they are to walk home, wait by the carpool lane, or meet you in a designated area. Kindergarten students will exit the building approximately three minutes prior to the bell ringing. They will raise their hand when they see a parent or designated carpool driver and their teacher will release them to you. Girls on the Run Girls on the Run at Maxey offers after-school programming that combines friendship, fun and a training for a 5K to promote healthy lifestyles and self-respect in third- through fifth-grade girls. The program incorporates exercise, education and mentoring to create a positive athletic experience for young girls.
Girls on the Run teams meet for 75 minutes twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) to play running games and discuss topics that matter to pre-teen girls. Along the way, the girls learn about themselves, their teammates and their ability to do more than they think they can.
The season begins on Tuesday, August 22 and runs through the beginning of November. The Lincoln GOTR 5K will be Oct. 28 at Air Park in Lincoln (open only to currently enrolled GOTR girls and their Run Buddies). The tentative start time is 9:45 a.m. Families can register online at GOTRNebraska.org.
Maxey Visitor Badges Please return any of the Maxey Visitor Badges to the Greeters Desk. Please remember visitors at Maxey are to enter and exit through the front entrance of Maxey Elementary and return their badges as they check out with the Secured Entrance Monitor. Thank you.

Spirit GearMaxey School Spirit gear is available on-line throughout the year. Our fi rst order deadline is Wednesday, August 30th. Please submit your order and payments on-line through maxeypto.org under Spirit Gear. All items will be delivered to your Oldest or Only Student. Show your school pride on school spirit days!

Traffi c SafetyPlease remember to follow all signs and laws when dropping off and picking up students at Maxey. Safety for our children is top priority! The signs are set up to help make the traffi c fl ow faster, easier and safer.If you need to get out of your car, please park on a side street or in the parking lot and then walk your children into school. In the drop off lane, only use the passenger side doors.

Fun NightSeptember 15th is Maxey’s Annual Fun Night! Be sure to Pre-order your wristbands for lower prices! Wristbands will be $13 at Fun Night.
