    New Faculty Members Welcomed to Maud ISD

    Sonya Gaines is returning to Maud ISD this year as the fourth and fifth grade Language Arts teacher. She previously worked at Maud ISD as a first grade teacher, but left when her husband was transferred to Lubbock. We are happy to welcome Mrs. Gaines back to Maud Elementary! Students will see several new faces on Maud Middle/High School campus. Many have already met the new Athletic Director and head football coach, Matt Langley. Daniel Baird joins the Cardinal coaching staff as well as two new coaches for female athletics—Rebekkah Crisp and Nichole McCasland. Other additions to the Middle/High staff include: Amy Hankins, English/Language Arts teacher; Frederick Weiser, Spanish teacher; and Michele Whorton, Science teacher. Welcome to Maud ISD!

    The Maud Athletic Booster Club will once again sponsor the program for the Cardinal football games.     Open House and “Meet the Teacher”

    The 2012-13 school year begins on Monday, August 27. Parents and students will be able to tour the campus and meet the teachers on Wednesday, August 22, from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Middle and High School students will pick up their schedules at this time. A table will be set up in the Middle School building foyer for the pickup of schedules of Middle and High School students.

    Pee Wee Cheer Camp The Maud High School cheerleaders will be hosting a Pee Wee Cheer Camp from August 15-17 from 4:00—6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. The camp is open to students who will be in grades Pre-K through 5th grade for the 2012-13 school year. The registration of $30 includes the camp instruction, camp T-shirt, goodie bag, and the opportunity to perform with MHS cheerleaders at the first home Cardinal football game!     MAUD MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL

    Semester Tests

    Middle school and high school students will be given semester tests.

    Semester tests will be comprehensive and will be given during the last week of the semester.

    Exemptions for Semester Tests

    A student with no more than two (2) absences and an average of 90-100, may be exempt.

    A student with no more than one (1) absence and an average of 80-89, may be exempt.

    A student with no absences (0) and an average of 70-79, may be exempt.

    If a student is exempt from taking a semester test, he/she may take the test to try to improve their grade, but it may not lower their grade.

    2012-2013

    MAUD MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL

    Calculation for Six Weeks Grades

    A minimum of twelve (12) daily grades will be taken and count 50% of the six weeks average.

    A minimum of three (3) test grades will be taken and count 50% of the six weeks average.

    There will be NO six weeks tests giv-en – only semester tests.
