MOLECULES• Molecules is made when two or more atoms join
together.
PURE SUBSTANCES• Are made from one type of atom or molecule.• There are two types of pure subtances.• Elements and compaunds.
ELEMENTS AND COMPOUNDS
ELEMENTS• Are made from atoms.
COMPOUNDS• Are made from
molecules.
PROPERTIES• HARD: materials are very dificult to scratch or cut,
example: steel.• SOFT: materials are scratch or cut easily, example: glass.• TOUGTH: materials are very difficult to break, example:
steel.• FRAGILE: materials break easily, example: glass.• PLASTIC: materials are easy to bend, example: polythene.• ELASTIC: materials go back to their shape after we squash
or stretch them, example: sponge.
THERMALS
INSULATORS• Is a material can't conductor
heat, because their molecules are close together and can't get hot.
CONDUCTORS• Is a material transport heat
easily, because their molecules are free.
MIXTURES
HETEROGENEOUS• We can see the
separate subtances.• Molecules don't mix.
HOMOGENEOUS• We can't see the separate
subtances.• Molecules mix.• Called a solution.The subtance
that dissolves is called solute and the subtance tha dissolvesit is called the solute.
SOLUTION• The solutions
are made from solute and solvent that forms the solutions
CHANGE IN MATTERPHISICAL• Molecules move
about but their structure doesn't change.
CHEMICAL• New molecules are
made and the matter is changed forever.
PHISICAL• Fold paper and change its shape.• Fly a kite and change its place.• Freeze a yoghurt and change its state.• Heat milk and change its temperature.
CHEMICAL• When an apple rots.• When iron rusts.• When wood burns.• When milk ferments.
