Class A division and Class B division The Department Chair of Mathematics and Computer Science organizes the West River Math Contest

Getting thereThe Newell High School math teachers get to pick the students to compete in the math contest.They will either pick:The kids with the top grades in the class(es)ORThe kids they think will do the best at the contest

About 20 schools take part in the contestApproximately 475 kids compete in the Math ContestThis year marks the 64th annual West River Math ContestContest begins at 9:30 AMAward ceremony at 1:30 PMTest is NOT multiple choice and is about 10 pages long

PurposeThe purpose of the West River Math Contest is to serve a opportunity for local students to compete against other students. Anyone can be in the contest, but the teachers get to decide who gets to go.
