The Master of Education (Guidance and Counselling) programme is a particularly ideal course for those who would like to expand their teaching career into the field of Guidance and Counselling. Advanced counselling and appraisal techniques as well as cross-cultural counselling are some of the subjects that will be useful not only for Guidance Counsellors, but alsofor those who work in the Human Resource sector. At UNITAR, our curriculum includes the teaching of professional Guidance and Assistance of the individual by utilising psychological methods mainly in collecting the case history data, and using various techniques of interpersonal interaction and assessment tools.

Entry Requirements

Programme Core Modules

Curriculum is developed based on the requirements set by Malaysian Board of Counsellors.

i. A bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in the field or related fieldwith a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent as accepted byUNITAR Senate; OR

ii. A bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields or equivalentwith a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; OR

Candidates without a qualification in the related fields or workingexperience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriateprerequisite courses determined by the HEP and meet theminimum CGPA based on (i) to (ii).

Entry requirements for admission into the Master’s programme(Level 7, MQF) through APEL as approved by the Ministry ofEducation (MOHE). Applicants must be/have: 1. A Malaysian citizen; AND 2. The candidate should be more than 30 years of age in the year of application; 3. Possess at least STPM / Diploma / A-Levels / equivalent qualifications; 4. Relevant work experience / prior experiential learning; AND 5. Pass the APEL Assessment.

ENGLISH REQUIREMENTSInternational Students 1. Minimum score of 6.0 for IELTS OR 2. Minimum score of 600 for TOEFL OR its equivalent.
