Bottom graph effectively shows the variation in gas head space in the trap (white) and pressure deviations in the sensor system used to trigger the pneumatic control unit (red). Mud level (consequently head space volume) was effectively maintained within +/- ¼ inch of setpoint. This virtually eliminates variations in gas readings common in fixed traps due to pit level fluctuations.
