TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — I pleaded, and the spirit of wisdom came to me. All good things together came to me in her company (Wisdom 7:7‐11). STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
As Catholics, we acknowledge that there will be a Judgment Day, that final day on which Christ comes again, and when we all stand in judgment on how we have lived our lives. TheCatechism of the Catholic Church puts it this way: “When the Lord comes at the end of time to judge the living and the dead, the glorious Christ will render to each man and woman according to their works, and according to their acceptance or refusal of grace.”
The principal author of our U.S. Bishops Pastoral Letter on Stewardship (Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response) tried to explain stewardship and how it relates to judgment in this way: “Each of us has received a garden; that garden is the many gifts and graces we have received from God. At our final judgment, the Lord will only ask us one question: ‘What have you done with the garden I gave you?’ ”
That is, of course, a simplified version of judgment, but it is an accurate measure of how we may be judged. We have received gifts, varied and different to be sure, but gifts nonetheless, from a beneficent God. What have we done with those gifts? Have we used them as Christ expects us — to further and build the Kingdom, to help those in need, and to show our love for others by sharing? That is the stewardship way.

REFLECIÓN DOMINICAL
Como católicos, reconocemos que habrá un Día del Juicio, que el último día en el que Cristo venga de nuevo, y cuando todos estamos en el juicio de cómo hemos vivido nuestras vidas.El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica lo expresa así: "Cuando venga el Señor al final de los tiempos para juzgar a los vivos ya los muertos, Cristo glorioso pagará a cada hombre y mujer, según sus obras, y según su aceptación o rechazo de la gracia. "
El autor principal de nuestra Carta Pastoral de EE.UU. Obispos sobre la Corresponsabilidad (Mayordomía: Respuesta de losDiscípulos) trató de explicar la administración y cómo se relaciona con el juicio de esta manera: "Cada uno de nosotros ha recibido un jardín; ese jardín es los muchos dones y gracias que hemos recibido de Dios. A nuestro juicio final, el Señor sólo nos hacer una pregunta: "¿Qué has hecho con el jardín que te di ' "
Esto es, por supuesto, una versión simplificada del juicio, pero es una medida exacta de cómo podemos ser juzgados. Hemos recibido regalos, variadas y diferentes para estar seguro, pero los regalos, no obstante, de un Dios benéfico. ¿Qué hemos hecho con esos dones? ¿Los hemos utilizado como Cristo nos espera ‐ para avanzar y construir el Reino, para ayudar a los necesitados, y para mostrar nuestro amor por los demás al compartir? WE NEED COOKIES!!! For many years, home‐baked cookies have been an integral part of the Kairos prison ministry weekends at R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility in Otay Mesa. Last year, St. James provided over 400 dozen cookies for the effort! We will be collecting cookie donations again this year after all Masses (except 6:00 pm) October 24‐25 for the upcoming Kairos weekend. Please package your frozen homemade cookies (no packaged or bar cookies; please indicate if they con‐tain nuts) in clear, zip‐lock freezer bags (so that they may be inspected at the prison). Ministry of Consolation Seasons of Hope: A Support Group
for the Bereaved
If you’re in need of consolation after losing a loved one, this Christ‐centered faith sharing bereavement group is for you. We will meet for six Thursdays beginning October 29. Prayer, scripture, faith sharing and fellowship begin at 10:00 a.m.

All Souls Day Novena All Souls Day commemorates all those who have died and who, we pray, may one day join the saints around the great banquet table of the Lamb. We pray for the dead. We pray for the forgiveness of their sins, and we pray that God in his great mercy, will take them to himself. In November, we will have a Novena of Masses (November 2nd—10th) to remember our loved ones. All Souls Day envelope are available in your packets, if you receive envelopes or, at the Church Entrance. Return the envelope to the parish office before October 26th.

St. James—St. Leo Catholic Community is under the pastoral care of the Eudist Fathers, or Congregation of Jesus and Mary. We owe our name to Saint John Eudes who founded the Congregation in France in 1643. The Eudists currently operate in 15 countries, most of which are in the developing world. Evangelization, mainly with the poor and the youth, is our primary purpose, as well as formation to ministry in the

This program invites us to learn and to act in ways that will encourage Catholics—and all Americans of good will—to respond to the Holy Father’s September 2015 visit to the United States by working together to prioritize the well‐being of people who are excluded and hurting in society. In these six sessions, we will:
* Pray that God opens our hearts and minds to hear God’s Word; * Reflect on Scripture, excerpts from The Joy of the Gospel, and other resources of Catholic Social Teaching; * Examine some of the “signs of the times” in our own context—the kind of economic and social pressures
affecting our families and communities; * Discern what concrete steps God might be calling us to take together as a parish to work for
changes that support family and community life.
