The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was
it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left
unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O
Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before
thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word
Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear
and answer me. Amen.

Dear Our Lady Queen of Peace Brothers and Sisters, On behalf of the entire OLQP Administration, I would like to wholeheartedly thank all those who have given so generously of their time, talent, and treasure to our Parish this past year; for, indeed, it is through your unceasing support and generosity that we as a Parish could continue the mission entrusted to us by the Lord. I am presenting below our simplified Parish Financial Report of the Fiscal Year from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020 with the Profit and Loss statement. As you can, we ended the period with a deficit of almost $31,000. Due to the Covid 19 crisis, we deferred paying much of our assessments, thereby preserving cashflow. In addition, we were able to obtain a loan from the government of roughly $76K to help cover payroll expenses during this time. Since the beginning of the new fiscal year, we have taken drastic measures in reducing our expenses to pay the 2019/2020 balance of assessments due the Archdiocese of Newark and pay the rest of our bills. However, since collections during the lockdown period were very low, we had to use approximately $75K from our savings in order to payoff our 2019/2020 fiscal year assessment. Please note that aside from lower regular collections this past fiscal year, major shortfalls in revenue were due to much lower collections during Easter due to the lack of public masses and the closure of Bingo. Even with all the cost cutting measures that we have already taken, we project a deficit of roughly $80,000 for the current 2021 fiscal year. Our collections goal per week is $6500 to breakeven on expenses plus expected collections of approximately $40,000 for Christmas and Easter. I sincerely hope and pray that through your financial support we will be able to offset our projected deficit. In case you want more details or have any questions regarding our Financial Report, please do not hesitate to contact me or Julius Pulmano, our Business Manager. Let us continue to make OLQP our Spiritual Home! For that to take place, each of us needs to do our share of generously giving our time, talent, and treasure according to our own circumstances. May God bless you a hundredfold for your generosity in supporting our parish. Sincerely in the Lord, Father Tony

Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas before
Holy Communion
ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, behold I come to the
Sacrament of Thine only‐begotten Son, our Lord Jesus
Christ: I come as one infirm to the physician of life, as one
unclean to the fountain of mercy, as one blind to the light
of everlasting brightness, as one poor and needy to the
Lord of heaven and earth. Therefore I implore the
abundance of Thy measureless bounty that Thou wouldst
vouchsafe to heal my infirmity, wash my uncleanness,
enlighten my blindness, enrich my poverty and clothe my
nakedness, that I may receive the Bread of Angels, the
King of kings, the Lord of lords, with such reverence and
humility, with such sorrow and devotion, with such
purity and faith, with such purpose and intention as may
be profitable to my soul’s salvation.
Grant unto me, I pray, the grace of receiving not only the
Sacrament of our Lord’s Body and Blood, but also the
grace and power of the Sacrament. O most gracious God,
grant me so to receive the Body of Thine only‐begotten
Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, which He took from the
Virgin Mary, as to merit to be incorporated into His
mystical Body, and to be numbered amongst His
members. O most loving Father, give me grace to behold
forever Thy beloved Son with His face at last unveiled,
whom I now purpose to receive under the sacramental
veil here below. Amen.

Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini (1850‐1917)
November 13
Burly longshoremen glared at the woman in widow’s
dress who interrupted their drinking to beg money, in
broken English, for her orphanage. The bar exploded in
laughter as one man responded by spitting in her face.
“That was for me,” the woman smiled. “Do you have
anything for the children?” Given today’s national
debate, could it be as much God’s sense of humor as
God’s will for our sanctification that our first American
saint should be an immigrant and naturalized citizen?
Frances Cabrini, adopting the name Xavier, confided to
Pope Leo XIII her longing to follow her Jesuit patron to
Asia. But the Pope replied, “Not East—West!” So she and
her Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart exchanged
exotic dreams of China for the impoverished reality of
Italian ghettos across the United States and Central and
South America. Before her death, Frances had founded
seventy educational, health care, child, and family service
institutions. Today, from Siberia to Ethiopia, in sixteen
countries, Mother Cabrini’s sisters and lay associates
embody her practical spirituality: “Let’s get to work!
We’ll have eternity to rest!” —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Anima Christi (Soul of Christ)
SOUL of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy Wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me,
And bid me come to Thee.
That with Thy saints, I may praise Thee.
Forever and ever. Amen.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, may the whole world burn
with love for Thee! (x3)
Thanksgiving after Holy Communion Stewardship ‐ Multi‐Tasking
Multi‐Tasking: When Iʹm doing housework, one chore at
a time isnʹt enough. instead, I try to accomplish as many
things as possible. So there are times when I have laun‐
dry going in the dryer and the washer, dishes washing in
the dishwasher, and dinner baking in the oven, all while
Iʹm vacuuming the rug. It often seems as if everyoneʹs
multi‐tasking these days. In fact, many people even bring
laptop computers to do work while theyʹre vacationing.
When everyone is so busy, sometimes stewardship of
time and also talent (which requires time) can get ʺlost in
the shuffle. ʺTo be continued next week)
Treasures from Our Tradition
For several weeks, we have considered penance as a sacra‐
ment of forgiveness, and yet there are two other sacraments in
this category. The first, of course, is the Eucharist itself. The
other is the sacrament of the sick, long associated with penance.
The Letter of James sets out the deep tradition for caring for
the sick: sending for the priests, who will pray and lay their
hands on the sick ones, anointing them with oil, and giving
them forgiveness. Long before other rites of penance developed,
the sacrament of the sick was therefore a profound experience
of forgiveness. Jesus often healed the sick, nearly always as a
visible sign of forgiveness of sin. The tradition didn’t unfold
smoothly, however, and within a few centuries the oil of the
sick was taken home to be applied by caregivers as a salve, or
even to be drunk as a medicine. As early as the second century,
bishops were therefore urging that priests should be the ones to
visit those separated by illness from the Sunday assembly. Thus
the practice of consigning the Eucharist and the oil of the sick to
the non‐ordained faithful to bring home was relatively short‐
lived.

Thanksgiving Food Baskets
The need to support families at
the holidays continues despite
the pandemic. As we did at
Easter, we will not be collecting food items. We are
asking if Shoprite gift cards or monetary donations
towards those cards could be donated instead. They then
will be distributed to families in time for Thanksgiving.
Those donations could be dropped off at the Parish
Center during office hours or in the designated
Thanksgiving Basket in the back of Church.
The deadline is Saturday, November 21st. Please
indicate the amount of the gift card.
Your generosity is so greatly appreciated by those in
need and we are thankful for your support in our efforts
to brighten the lives of others. A Happy and Blessed
Thanksgiving to you and those you hold dear.

Daughters of Mary Meeting
The Daughters of Mary will meet Saturday, November
21st from 3:00 ‐ 4:30 pm in the auditorium. The girls will
be making Christmas cards for the homebound.
On 11/28/20, we are bringing
donations of new or gently used
coats, jackets, hats, gloves, scarves,
shirts to St Johnʹs for the men and
women who come there. They are living on the street
and staying warm is difficult. Any help is greatly
appreciated. Please contact Mary Flanigan at
