Dear Parishioners,
2020 was one of the darkest years in the history of mankind. It brought darkness and chaos to the world through the Covid-19 virus. This virus has taken millions of lives around the globe. Bishop Nicholas Di-Marzio requested that all the churches of the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens ring their church bells at 12 noon on December 30, 2020 to honor the 322,000 lives lost in this pandemic. Let us continue to pray for the families who lost their loved ones and ask the Lord to protect each one of us from this virus.
Happy New Year! New Year’s always brings positive hopes, expectations and a certain type of joy. It al-lows us to make some resolutions about our future lives and business plans. It also gives us the opportunity to grow stronger in our spiritual and moral relationships. My hope is that 2021 will allow each one of us to bring Gospel Joy to every person whom we love and helps them to share the Good News of Jesus so that they can make some brighter choices to grow in their faith and be a light for one another.
On December 8, 2020, His Holiness Pope Francis announced the year of St. Joseph. He has asked the peo-ple of God to learn from St. Joseph and follow his example to be a foster father to our brothers and sisters by showing the love of God through humility and self-giving. Let us ask God that this year we may spend some time with St. Joseph and learn to be humble while quietly doing the work of the Lord.
This Sunday we are celebrating the feast of the Epiphany of the Lord which makes us remember that Jesus is the universal King who has a mission to bring peace, harmony, love, unity and joy to the whole world. This feast also shows us that God always cares for every individual whatever religion and creed they prac-tice. We, as followers of Jesus Christ, have a bigger responsibility to share the gospel value with every hu-man person.

Associated Vincentian Charities of Brooklyn Gives Back!
Immaculate Heart of Mary should share in the profits. For each car, truck or van, run-ning or not the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul will give back to our church $50/$100 per vehicle. Maybe you don’t have a vehicle, but a family member, friend or neighbor has an old or neglected vehicle in their driveway that they would like to dispose of. Call the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul at: 718.491.2525. Thank You!

Opportunities to Help & Volunteer
“When I was hungry, you gave me to eat.” ( Mt. 25)
Our pantry is in need of non-perishable items such as: cereals, peanut butter, jelly, canned
vegetables, fruits, and soups, tuna fish, crackers, non-refrigerated milk (ex. Parmalat), etc.
Our Parish pledged to #WalkwithFrancis—donating
to the Food Pantry is a good way to walk.
Are You Aware?
It has been our experience at times that
some people may feel they are not able
to receive Communion due to divorce
or other personal issues. Often times,
there may be a misunderstanding regarding Church
Teaching in these matters. You are encouraged to see Fr.
Gill, Deacons Jim, John or Tony for clarity so that you do
not miss the opportunity to celebrate the healing presence
of Jesus in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and in turn
come to the Table of the Lord.

FAITH BOOK Epiphany of the Lord (B) January 3, 2021
Isaiah 60:1-6; Psalm 72; Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6; Matthew 2:1-12
From today’s Gospel reading:
They (the Magi) were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary, his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Reflection:
Foreigners were led to the Christ child’s home do him homage. National boundaries and differences dissolve when we respond to God’s invitation to come to Christ. We are always welcome into God’s presence and in gratitude our commitment is to Christian hospitality throughout this year—to welcome visitors as we would welcome Christ.
So, we ask ourselves:
• How do I practice hospitality? • Have I ever been treated as an outsider? • Do I treat any people or groups as outsiders?
Exposition and Adoration
of the
Blessed Sacrament
has returned to IHM on
each Friday of the month.
On the First Friday of each month we will have
exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the end
of the 8:45 am Mass with Benediction
following at 10:00 am.
On all other Fridays of the month with the
second Friday dedicated to Adoration for Life,
the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for
adoration and private prayer from 8:00 am
until 8:30 am.
We are united in prayer for
the needs of the entire world and especially
for an end to the pandemic.
