Overv

iew Mary Quant was a fashion designer, icon, and

revolutionist.

She was from England, and started her work in Europe but her styles traveled the world.

Quant was bold, daring, and trendy. Her “works” were what the IT clothing was. And what many

clothes, thereafter took inspiration from.

Her beginning was humble, but she quickly became a hit, and worked for herself.

Bazaar began with selected clothing for sale

Mary began making clothes for the store, but by the time it was too big to manage she had to go wholesale,

but did not stop making clothes regardless

She began hiring machinists to work for her and by 1966 was working with 18 different manufactures to

produce her clothing

Store and Mary are credited with the “Chelsea Look” and many iconic pieces of clothing from the British 60s

era

The Mini Skirt

Mary brought the fashion of the min-skirt to a new level, often credited for creating it

Affordable, so women everywhere wanted one

Created boots, tights, and perfect tops for the skirt as well

Youthful and iconic

Hot PantsThe hot pants were high waisted shorts often

paired with boots and a mini vest. They showed off much of the woman's leg a significant

amount.

FashionMary believed fashion was

for everyone!

Loved to experiment and take risks with her clothing,

she often succeed with those risks

Loved to be a part of every aspect of the business

70s,80s, 90s

• Mary focused on her cosmetics and household goods as well as decorations instead of just clothes

• She invented Mary Quant Ltd, a cosmetic line that is still available but now owned under a Japanese company as of 2007 “Mary Quant Color”

• Continued working on clothing and settled back a bit. Claims to have invented the Duvet cover

The MiniMary designed the interior

Almost named ‘Mini Quant’

Steering wheel had a daisy and a bonnet badge with

“Mary Quant”

Black and white striped seats, red seatbelts and red

trimming

2000 were released in 1988 on the British market and

later into the foreign market as well

In 1966 - OBE 1990 – Hall of Fame Award

Today..Mary is still alive and well.

She just turned 77 years old in February.

Is in charge of and still head of her fashion companies and

oversees foreign overtakes of her lines.

She is living without her husband after his passing, but remaining

fashionable as ever.
