MARY JEAN’S JOURNEY
TO AFRICA
SOUTH AFRICA, BOTSWANA,
AND ZIMBABWE
AUGUST 1 – AUGUST 14, 2016
... on an intimate, hand-tailored journey with Mary Jean Tully. You’ll move as the animals do, unimpeded by manmade borders as you travel across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Botswana to three exclusive camps hand-picked for their unparalleled beauty, luxury and environmental stewardship. On these legendary game reserves, you’ll roam among lions, rhinos, and zebras on safari, wake up to elephants sauntering past your suite, and sip a sundowner as you watch the red African sun melt into the Okavango Delta. You’ll look for the
playful tumble of lion cubs and the elegant swaying of giraffes, and when you’re not listening to hyenas cackling at night or the rumble of lions at sunrise, you can learn Bushcraft from the locals or admire ancient San rock art. No matter who you are, one thing is certain: this is an experience that will change you forever.
Note: This journey is limited to twelve guests. Our private group will have exclusive use of each reserve during our stay and will fly privately between each camp.

THREE NIGHTS
RATTRAY’S AT MALAMALA, SOUTH AFRICA WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3 – SATURDAY, AUGUST 6
• Set off to O.R. Tambo International Airport for a private charter
flight to Rattray’s at MalaMala Game Reserve, a luxurious
lodge that fuses the magic of the wild with the historic
elegance of a bygone colonial era. You’ll stay in a luxury suite,
named a khaya, where you can relax under the cooling spray
of a secluded outdoor shower, dip into the private heated
plunge pool, and enjoy the indigenous private garden filled
with the chirping of birds. You can also peruse rare leather-
bound volumes in the library, grab a drink at the historic bar,
or enjoy a relaxed meal on the outdoor safari deck, with its
grand river views.
• Each morning, climb into an open 4-wheel drive safari vehicle
and set off into the bush, leaving the road behind and getting
whisper-close to the animals that roam this legendary reserve.
Look for elephants taking mud baths, lions crouching in
the grass, or baboons taunting the leopards! A longtime
favorite of National Geographic filmmakers, MalaMala is an
undisturbed paradise known for its free roaming populations
of elephant, lion, rhino, leopard, buffalo, cheetah, and
hundreds of other species.
• Each evening, you will have the option to pack a cooler
full of sundowners to take on our night safari, leaving
camp just as the African sun grazes the horizon. As we
drive under the cover of star-spangled skies, our guide
will sweep the land with powerful spotlights, pointing out
elusive nocturnal creatures.
• Included during your stay: All meals and snacks, game drives,
nature walks, transfers to and from the MalaMala Game
Reserve airstrip, laundry (maximum 10 items per room per day),
and local beers, house wines and soft drinks.

• Your private charter flight will take you to Mombo Camp in
Botswana, situated within the Moremi Game Reserve and
surrounded on all sides by the Okavango Delta.
• You’ll set out on daily safari drives in open 4x4s, getting close
enough to the animals to feel the rumble of a lion’s roar as
it reverberates through our vehicle! Moremi’s game-filled
floodplains are a major hunting ground for lion prides and
leopards, making it the predator capital of the world. Here,
you can expect to see all the big cats as well as large herds
of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, blue wildebeest, and more.
If we’re lucky, we’ll spy a leopard dragging its kill up a tree –
or snoozing on its branches! Mary Jean’s favorite leopard,
Legadema, may also make an appearance.
• Back from safari, you can spend time connecting with a
rhino conservation expert, cooling off in the plunge pool, or
enjoying a special dinner.
