Led by Justin Rueb, Ph.D. Strategic Plannning and Leadership - Friday, February 7, 2020If you or your organization doesn’t know where you are going, how do you know when you get there? Are you looking to where you need to go or where you have been? Trends are an important part of determining your strategy and looking toward that future. Led by Todd Kuckkahn, M.S.

Optimize Your Fleet with MiFleet Business Internet of Thinks (loT) refer to any number of physical sensors that are con-nected to a wireless network to allow objects to communicate with each other or send data to the cloud without human intervention. loT solution can help businesses create efficiency and that's exactly what Cellcom's latest offering aims to do.

MiFleet Business is a comprehensive fleet and asset management tool scal-able for businesses with fleets of all sizes - even a single vehicle. The GPS-enabled hardware is easy-to-install and can report on location, monitor fuel consumption, detect idle time, report on engine diagnostics and more. The data is uploaded automatically to allow for real-time notifications or reports can be scheduled to analyze data over time.

The true power of the solution comes from leveraging the data. Small changes can make a big different, and MiFleet Business provides the information needed to make intelligent decisions. Consider something simple like idling, which can use anywhere from a quarter - to a half-gallon of fuel per hour, depending on engine size. Optimizing a route with MiFleet can decrease idle time and save money and time every day. That's just one example of the efficiency this loT solution provides. To learn more about MiFleet Business visit Cellcom's website or contact your business sales consul-tant today. In Marshfield, Cellcom is located at 1722 North Central Avenue.

Mid-State live GPS maps available at WIAA State Cross Country Meet and beyond For the third year, spectators and medical first responders at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Associate state cross country meet at The Ridges Golf Course will be able to track their exact position on the course in real time thanks to a live GPS map on their hand-held devices. The map of the 5,000 meter race course is now one of over a dozen created for cross country races across the state by the Civil Engineering Technology Technician students at Mid-State Techni-cal College, and kudos to instructor Greg Webster.

The live GPS map at The Ridges is based on approximately 2,400 data points collected by students at MSTC. Those data points were then used to create a course centerline on the aerial view and an elevation profile to help runners see exactly what to expect from the course before ever stepping onto it. An interactive feature also allows spectators to use their phones to help them find their way around the course. Since that first map was created in 2013, students have gone on to create maps for a total of 13 courses statewide. Among the courses mapped are the home courses for SPASH, Amherst, Wisconsin Rapids, Auburndale, Marshfield, Marshfield Columbus, and Pittsville high schools.

MACCI Addressing Shortage of Child Care Taking proactive measures to address the workforce concern regarding the shortage of child care options, MACCI formed a CEO Child Care task force. The task force was made up of representatives from financial, manufacturing/dis-tribution, accounting, healthcare/lab businesses, along with United Way, Childcaring Inc. and City of Marshfield. The purpose of the task force was to discuss the importance of having affordable, quality child care options to help retain and attract workforce.

The first step of this process was to understand the issues at the root of the shortage. One such issue is over the last 7 years Marshfield has lost approximately 200 child care slots. The task force explored various options other businesses/communities were utilizing to help offset the high costs facing child care businesses along with the high costs to em-ployees. Another such issue is the workforce shortage faced by child care providers; which is compounded by lower wages and few, if any, benefits available to employees in the child care field.

Starting with this newsletter, you will find information provided by Childcaring Inc., Central Wisconsin’s Resource and Referral Agency to help educate employers on the issues/concerns of this industry, services they provide and tips that can be used to assist employees. MACCI will continue to offer quarterly updates.

MACCI Gift Certificates Helpful HintsThe following helpful tips are meant to maximize the shopping experience with MACCI gift certificates and the support of our local economy. Gift certificate transactions are meant to be completed in full, without the expecta-tion of giving cash back. Thereby, our community-wide gift certificate program increases the economic impact to the Marshfield area. Every dollar spent locally has a multiplier effect up to 7 times, thus strengthening our busi-nesses and organizations and growing local jobs.

MACCI gift certificates make great gifts because certificates are:

Available in any dollar amount.

Tip – We recommend the purchase of larger dollar amounts be broken down into smaller increments, which are easier to spend.

Convenient gift idea.

Tip – Certificates are easily obtained from the MACCI office. For larger orders we recommend you place your order at least 24 hours in advance.

Certificates can be redeemed at any Marshfield area business.

MARSHFIELD AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY

MARSHFIELD AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY

From the office of Dr. Susan Turney, Marshfield Clinic Health System CEO

I am pleased to share we have signed a letter of intent with Ascension Wisconsin that would result in us acquiring Ascension St. Claire's Hospital in Weston. As part of this transaction, we also would acquire Ascension's share of Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls, giving us full ownership of that facility. Additionally, we would assume full ownership of The Diagnostic & Treatment Center, which we currently co-run with Ascension.

As you know, we have been working to bring an integrated medical campus to the Wausau area in order to provide the best patient care and experience to those we serve. We've had informal conversations with Ascension leader-ship for the past several years regarding the future of health care in Wausau. Those conversations accelerated over the past couple of weeks, and the opportunity to acquire St. Claire's came to the forefront.

If this deal is finalized, we will not build a new hospital in the Wausau community. While we fully intended to build a new hospital, and still will if a final agreement with Ascension is not reached, acquiring St. Claire's would provide us the hospital facility we need to bring our integrated care model to Wausau.

It's always difficult to create a definitive timeline for complex transac-tions like this. As far as next steps, administrators will work together over the next few months with the goal of finalizing the transaction in spring 2020.

I'm excited to have an opportunity to hit the ground running in Wausau and bring our integrated care model to that community faster than we otherwise could have.

Luthers Central Pet Cremation LLC, located at 6883 Johnson Rd., Pitts-ville knows pets are kept for companionship, security or therapeutic reasons. When it comes to saying good-bye, for some people losing a pet is like losing a member of the family. Luthers Central Pet Cremation LLC understands how important a pet is to a family and specializes in private only cremation, which ensures that the owner will get only their pet’s ashes back. Each pet is issued an identification tag with a unique number that stays with the pet throughout the process, and is included with your pet’s ashes. Pets can be picked up from a home, veterinarian clinics/hospitals in central Wisconsin or they may be brought to Luthers Central Pet Cremation. Setting up an appointment during business hours, evening and weekends is preferred so that you get the attention you need. Personalized urns and keepsakes are avail-able. The Luthers have a strong desire to give back as well. They will accept donations for local pet shelters and will cremate any military or police K9 located in Clark or Wood County for free.

Root of Renewal Massage LLC, located at 111 East 4th Street, Suite 5 in Marshfield, is a Christian-based business where clients can receive therapeutic massage incorporating Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, prenatal, hot stone, bamboo fusion and chair massages. Mackenzie Behling moved to the area 6 years ago and was the owner of Behling Cleaning Service. Although the business flourished, Mackenzie was in need of slowing down her pace. She knew she had the determination and mindset to make a small business work and wanted to once again be her own boss. She is passionate about staying in downtown Marshfield because she noticed the area needs a Christian-based massage practice.

Through massage and a calming atmosphere, Mackenzie can assist in creating an optimal internal environment with the human body for tissue recovery and can help minimize the symptoms of chronic disease. She can also provide a relaxing massage which can release endorphins and help reduce stress. Pregnant women who are in their 2nd trimester can receive a massage to help alleviate joint pain and reduce swelling in the ankles. In addition to the on-site table massage, Mackenzie will offer off-site chair massages for those who are interested in her services for events.

Hastreiter Industries Corporation, 1811 East 29th Street, Marshfield was founded by Ken and Sondra Hastreiter in 1988 with a single manual lathe. Originally called “UTM Inc.”, the company grew exponentially when a company approached Ken to produce a hospital bed part that nobody else could make. Ken figured out how to machine a double helix on a two-axis manual lathe, something that should not have been possible at the time. While technology today makes that part easy, Hastreiter Industries continues to be cutting edge, manufacturing parts for Aerospace, Defense, Energy and other industries that require high reliability and tight tolerances.

For decades, UTM remained a small machine shop until 2016 when that all changed. The second generation joined and with a desire to make a larger impact in the community, the company started to rapidly grow and has since increased five times in size. Due to this continued growth, Hastreiter Industries moved their operations into the City of Marshfield in August 2019. They purchased and repurposed a 42,000 square foot facility, recently vacated by another business.
