Retrouvaille (pronounced ‘retro- vī ‘, with long i ) means “rediscovery”. It is a lifeline of hope and
healing for struggling marriages of all ages, even couples who are separated or divorced but want to try again.
Retrouvaille is a three-phase program that begins with a weekend experience, followed by post-weekend presentations, and monthly small group support meetings.
It is a Christian peer ministry of couples helping couples with the support of caring clergy members. It is not counseling or group therapy. Couples who have been through crises leading to the brink of divorce share their stories and the tools they used to heal their marriage. Participants reflect and discuss in complete privacy with their spouse.
Though the program is Catholic in origin, and has a Christian-orientation, couples of all faiths or no faith background are welcomed. The primary focus is on improving communication and building a stronger marriage, so couples may rediscover the love they have for each other.
The non-profit program is available in communities worldwide. Program costs are affordable and no couple is ever turned away because of any financial barrier.
Central Wisconsin Retrouvaille hosts 2 programs a year at St. Anthony’s Spirituality Center in Marathon. The winter session begins with a weekend held on February 9-11, 2018. The summer/fall session begins on August 17-19, 2018. Early registration is recommended.

Another marriage saving weekend is coming soon! The world wide, non-profit Retrouvaille program, (pronounced Retro-
vī with a long i) has helped thousands of marriages and families in Wisconsin and many thousands world-wide since it
began in Quebec over 40 years ago. Most couples who have attended say that they learned about this program from
their weekly church bulletin. Many are afraid to ask their pastor or friends for help. Others are just hoping time will
make things better. They tell us that seeing the program announced repeatedly in their church bulletin gave them the
courage to pick up the phone and make the call. Most say that Retrouvaille was the lifeline that helped their marriage.
Your church can throw this lifeline to these hurting couples in one or more ways:
By posting in your church bulletin an announcement of the upcoming program, as often as possible, you give
troubled marriages and their hurting families a chance to heal. See announcements below to cut & paste.
Make Retrouvaille posters and brochures available at your church. Copy the poster attached. Color brochures
are available and would be happy to either drop them off in person or mail them to you. Please contact us!

Invite us to come to your church and present a brief “pulpit talk” some weekend- can be short 2 minutes at the
end of the service, or to speak about the program to a men’s or women’s group. We are a peer ministry. All
volunteer couples have experienced the healing of Retrouvaille themselves.
Who is it for? Although the program is Catholic in origin, married couples of all faiths and those with no faith tradition
are encouraged to attend and are respected for their beliefs. As they apply to helping a marriage, Christian values are
discussed. No other religious doctrine is discussed. The focus is solely on saving marriages.
What happens in the program? Retrouvaille begins with a weekend experience led by peer couples (of various faith
backgrounds) who themselves have been helped by the program and a clergy member. Husbands and wives are given
the opportunity to rediscover each other and to examine their life together in a new and positive way. It is not group
therapy and couples are not required to share their story with anyone else. The weekend program is followed by a
series of 7 Sunday afternoon “Post Sessions,” at St. Clare’s Medical Center in Weston where topics such as trust,
forgiveness, conflict management, and re-building intimacy are explored more deeply over the next few months. A
Professional Reference booklet explaining program details is available for counselors and clergy upon request.
How much does it cost? Retrouvaille is a self-supported, non-profit organization and receives no financial support from
any church or other organization. A $150 registration fee is requested to reserve a spot on the weekend. During the
weekend, couples are asked for an anonymous donation to help cover expenses for the weekend and follow up sessions.
No one is turned away because of financial hardship at the time of registration. Central Wisconsin Retrouvaille serves a
