Proud Native American people, known as the Kanza, settled in the northeastern portion of Kansas in the mid 16th century. They lived off the expansive, fertile prairies of the region and their tribe’s name became the inspiration for the state’s name.

Each year, lightning strikes would ignite prairie fires. Nature’s fires invigorated and renewed the prairies’ fertile ground and grasses and sustained both the human inhabitants

and wildlife that roamed the region. Over time, the Kanza and the new settlers embraced nature’s example and created their own prairie fires, which resulted in renewed ground for grasses and crops.

It is with respect of this heritage that the Kanza Fire Commerce Park was conceived. This 1,018-acre business and industrial park is designed to offer global companies a fertile place for new growth and prosperity.
