WHY

Nowadays in sailing scenario there are two different professional circuits:

- exclusive events with huge budgets and multi-year pro-grammes as America’s Cup, oceanic ragattas and olympic

games

- “handicap”, one-design and level classes where that team is the main value in order to achieve a winning pro-

gramme

In GP42 class, simply the best level class of the future, the winner will be the best team in sail-boat set-up

and regatta leading

Oggigiorno nel mondo della vela ci sono due diversi circuiti riservati ai professionisti:

- eventi esclusivi per budget elevati con programmazione su più anni come l’America’s Cup, regate oceaniche e campagne olimpiche

- “handicap”, one-design e level classes dove il team rappresenta il valore principale per conseguire risultati vincenti

Nella classe GP42, semplicemente la migliore level class del futuro, il vincitore sarà il team migliore nel setup della barca e nelle tattiche in regata

WHY GP 42

In late 2005 after a year of development the ORC (Offshore Racing Council) announced the completion of three new

grand prix offshore level class box rules sized 26, 33 and 42 feet in length

the GP42 is going to have the most explosive performance on the water, following on from the huge success of the

Transpac 52 box rule

the GP42 expands on the TP52 concept, the tremendeous success of which is a sign of what 2007 holds for the GP42 circuit

Alla fine del 2005, dopo un anno di sviluppo, l’ORC (Offshore Racing Council) ha annunciato il completamento

di tre nuove level class per regate costiere, lunghe 26, 33 e 42 piedi

la GP42 avrà le prestazioni più elevate sull’acqua e seguirà l’enorme successo della classe Transpac 52,

Th e GP42 requires a high level of building exper-tise to ensure a fi nely tuned product: tolerances are small and accuracy is crucial for every compo-nent.

Marine Composite have a quality international build team to ensure these demanding standards. Th anks to Vittorio Urbinati, MC is also the only shipyard ever that build boats, owns the sailing team and off er to the other owners tech support on the race fi elds.

Il suo fondatore e amministratore delegato Vit-torio Urbinati ha creato cinque anni fa Marine Composite allo scopo di trovare ulteriori sviluppi di questi materiali per il settore della nautica.

Marine Composite è presto diventato uno dei principali costruttori italiani di imbarcazioni da regata in composito: nel 2003 ha costruito MC 46 Sea Wonder conquistando notorietà nel Mediter-raneo grazie a numerose vittore sia in ims sia in irc; MC 42 race Sea Winner ha vinto il campio-nato italiano ims e gli scafi IACC di Mascalzone Latino ITA-90 e ITA-99 sono due degli scafi più veloci fra gli sfi danti alla 32ma America’s Cup.

Il GP42 richiede un alto livello di capacità costrut-tive per assicurare un prodotto altamente accu-rato: le tolleranze sono minime e la precisione è

determinante per ogni componente.Marine Composite ha un team di costruttori di altissimo livello in-ternazionale per assicurare ognuna di queste importanti esigenze. Marine Composite è anche l’unico cantiere che, oltre a costruire le barche, grazie al suo proprietario Vittorio Urbinati ha creato il proprio saling team e off re assistenza tecnica sui campi di regata.

Flavio Favini (Mascalzone Latino helmsman), Lorenzo Bressani (5 world titles, 5 europeans, 9 italians,

plus 2 sardinia cup, 4 barcolana), Stefano Rizzi (the race, volvo ocean race, louis vuitton cup)

are the stars.

Dede De Luca and Maciel Cicchetti are co-responsible for design and development of sails;

Nacho Postigo and Flavio Grassi are navigators, responsible for electronics and meteo;

Cristian Griggio is in charge to study and develop the deck gear layout.

All these persons are involved from the start up of the project so their role is not only as sailors but as boatyard consultants.

Simon Alltree (shipyard manager) and Sebastiano Rech Moras-sutti (boat building project manager) complete this consistent and

impressive squadron.

“Marine Composite is a purpose built, composite-yacht construction complex.

It’s facilities boast a state of the art 30mt digitally controlled 120°C post-curing oven, multi-point vacuum bagging systems and a complete range of wood/composite material forming and finishing machinery.

It’s parent company, Daire Chemicals SpA, is an industry leader in the distribution of and technical assistance for the world’s major technopolymer producers.

Marine Composite works in synergy with Daire to develope new applications for tecnopolymers in composite marine sector.

All projects are entrusted to world renouned designers and structures are custom-engineered to suit the needs of both the client and industry standards.

La “Marine Composite s.r.l.” è un cantiere nautico di recente costituzione attrezzato per la costruzione di imbarcazioni in com-posito: carbonio - fibre aramidica - vetro E, impregnati con resi-na epossidica. La Marine Composite è una consociata della Daire Chemicals SpA di Pianezza (To), società leader nella distribuzione e assistenza tecnica di tecnopolimeri prodotti dalle principali case chimiche internazionali. L’ attività della Marine Composite è uno sviluppo sinergico della Daire per le applicazioni dei tecnopolimeri nel settore dei compositi. In una nuova struttura, sono sistemati gli impianti che sono all’avanguardia come tecnologia e soprattutto sono indicati per l’impiego di tessuti in carbonio preimpregnato (Pre-Pregs). Il cantiere, che può realizzare imbarcazioni fino a 30 metri di lunghezza, è anche dotato di una serie di impianti e attrezzature per la lavorazione del legno e composito/legno per gli arredi. I pro-getti costruttivi sono affidati ai migliori progettisti del settore, scelti dal cliente con l’assistenza del cantiere. L‘impianto sottovuoto e il forno per la post-cura, che permette di aumentare la resistenza dei laminati, è dotato di apposite centraline con 24 sonde per la termoregolazione sino a temperature di 90/100° C con aria cli-matizzata dai 18 ai 100° C che consentono di attuare i migliori standard produttivi.
