BiographyMaría de Villota (Madrid, 13th January 1980 -
Sevilla, 11th October 2013) was a Spanish racing driver, daughter of one of the best Formula 1 racers, Emilio de Villota. Maria de Villota was the first Spanish woman entering Formula 1. She had many achievements, as being the only female reserve champion of Spain (Formula Toyota, 2001), or the first woman to achieve the pole in Ferrari Championship, at the Mugello circuit, in 2005.
AccidentHis career ended when on July 3rd, 2012
she had an accident at the airfield of Duxford during aerodynamic tests for his team. As a result, she suffered the loss of his right eye. Seeing decreased the ability to perceive distances, it was impossible to return to participate in the competition.
