Hello everybody! How do you like that SPRING isnow upon us? The temperature still feels chilly oncethat sun goes down. We even have had some nightsnear freezing. Check your local Shelter if you are in

NEED of a warm place to sleep. The website of the county posts it.

As our county under goes some drastic changes. Not everyone is happy about it. Again, Iwas filled with E-mails voicing concerns for our future and this widening project the statehas done, seems to have some serious consequences to each of our cities being North ofthe Bay. People you need to start attending city council meetings with an urgency. Nomatter what town you live in. They are making decisions that will affect your utility billsin the near future. How many of you are on fixed income? without any promises of anincrease? As it appears there are many of you elder folks out there who need to have yourconcerns and opinions heard by those leading your city or area. You can help the future.

Go to the county Board of Commissioner’s meetings! Things are really getting twistedfrom what many of us were thinking it was to be in this county, and from how it is goingto be. It is quite important that they see your face, hear your voices or they will just pass

anything that is appeasing to them, not you. I urge you all to really start attending as manymeetings as you can. This county is in chaos, the USA is in chaos. It needs OUR HELP!With the Election of a New President coming soon. This is the time to watch your local

government even more closely, because it affects you most directly. As they say, “1 Beeisn’t a problem, but when a swarm of bees are around, people take NOTICE”!

The same as what is happening to Donald Trump. I personally am voting for him for weneed someone the establishment cannot dictate to. Nor will he dictate to them. He is asmart businessman and I know it is time for our country to be run like a business. Like noother business. Why else would this Man make so many people upset? Because he is thevoice of 85% of most Americans. like me, who are pissed off from the Lies, the cheating, the manipulating of our Constitution and Laws that founded this “once great” country ofOURS. Block our roads, we will run you OVER! Southern Pride is also at stake now.

You folks do understand that these “so-called” protestors that are causing a divide between everyone are paid people by the BLM, MoveOn.org and of course Obama and theClinton’s. Does anyone else feel tired of seeing that lying woman’s face? She makes mesick. To think that people will even vote for her is a joke. Seriously, what has she done forour country, our people? Get them killed, lie to the faces of the families of the dead. Shedenies all the facts that has been asked to her, about her lack of authority. The way she hashandled some very serious National Security issues seems like a joke to her and this cur-rent administration. Saying, “what does it matter now”? Really?

Doesn’t our history make a reason to for you to be concerned? Each one of us will haveto live with the disarray from the government for some years to come if Hillary becomesPresident. She should be in Prison before the election, but it doesn’t make sense knowing

she is guilty of 90% of all allegations against her, that she is not in jail NOW, awaiting atrial, right now! If it were any one of us, we would have already been sentenced, possiblyDeath. The “Traitor” Bergdahl deal is also a sham. We DO know for sure that if Trumpwas president. That entire silly, ridiculous deal that Obama has made would NOT havehappened. The entire ordeal was embarrassing to all Americans. Iraq held our Navy?

As a US Veteran, I take a deep offense to someone making the US “look bad”. It is ourhomeland. Be Proud or Leave. So many people around here never served a day in themilitary yet they still have more Rebel Pride in our country than those puppets elected inCongress. Why hasn’t the Republicans done more while in majority of the Senate thanthey have? Why does it take a non-establishment person (TRUMP) to bring up issues weall knew that are important to our safety. Just the Border issue alone is a disgrace!

We have Laws in place, we have Border Police and Military intervention to try and keep

us safe. Obama disallows them to do the “right thing”. Their job! Just as a soldier istrained to do a JOB, let them do what they are trained to do! Obama is the weakest manI’ve ever seen in leadership of this magnitude. Today, he is in Cuba. Even Castro dissedhim at the airport. Obama has his picture with an evil bastard mounted in Cuba, a massmurderer, yet he smiles? I think he is mentally incompetent more than he was whenelected. He was also elected by telling Lies, just like Hillary does. We cannot afford this

Nation to have another term of Obamacare crap and those executive orders he pushed thruwithout Congress approval. The Race War is going to happen in due time.

Who will change the direction of this country from withering away to a 3rd worldcountry? TRUMP! I would rather have 1yr with TRUMP than 4 years of anyone else. Hecannot make it worse than it really is. The true factual statistics of Obama’s legacy is

proven to be that he will be remembered as the “worst President ever”. He had his chanceto become a great one, but chose to deal with the enemy so much that we furnished themBillions of $$ and ammunition and military equipment. We now have been sized down inmilitary so much that we have to work now 3x as hard, as if it were before GW Bush.

People, you need to make the time to watch what is going on around the World. Whatmakes you think that it will not happen here? People in such poverty and despair that nowwe even have our own Lead Water for Michigan, finding more each day. STAND UP!

There are two new cases of the Zika Virus in Polk County (bringing thetotal statewide to 52) –  one is travel-associated and one was sexuallytransmitted from an individual who was traveling outside of the country. The Declaration of Public Health Emergency has been expanded to in-clude Polk County. Of the cases confirmed in Florida, three cases are stillexhibiting symptoms. According to the CDC, symptoms associated withthe Zika virus last between seven to 10 days.  The CDC has put out guidance related to the sexual transmission of the

Zika virus. This includes the CDC recommendation that if you have trav-eled to a country with local transmission of Zika you should abstain fromunprotected sex. Based on CDC guidance, several pregnant women who have traveled tocountries with local-transmission of Zika have received antibody testing, and of those, four have tested positive for the Zika virus. The CDC recom-mends that a pregnant woman with a history of Zika virus and her providershould consider additional ultrasounds. It is recommended that women

who are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant postpone travel

to Zika affected areas. Last week, Governor Rick Scott announced that the Centers for DiseaseControl fulfilled the request he made last week for more antibody tests for

the Zika virus and provided an additional 500 tests.State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong urgesFloridians to drain standing water weekly, no matter how seemingly small.A couple drops of water in a bottle cap can be a breeding location for mos-quitoes. Residents and visitors also need to use repellents when enjoyingthe Florida outdoors. The number for the Zika Virus Information Hotline is 1-855-622-6735.

Entertainment, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It’s different for each person. I am a 2nd generation singer/songwriter with strong family ties

to South Walton. Music has, and will, remain a passion of mine until my time on this planet is over.

The goal of this column is to spotlight, any and allstyles of ”local” musicians, venues and events thatare worth attending. Of course I don’t know every-one, but I am willing to attend shows or events, withan open mind and my honest opinion.

It is said, a musician plays and sings, whereas anentertainer performs from the soul. Sharing his or her

passion with complete strangers to connect a spiritual bond. Many, with rare gifts go unnoticed.

***THIS IS WHERE YOU WILL READ THEIRSTORIES…..

Forrest Williams will be the featured artist innext issue.

If you have a particular musical artist you would liketo be featured that plays in Walton County. Send inyour requests and we will do our Best to let youknow when, where is the BEST place to see themLIVE! South Walton has so many places to visit.

The Rural Water Rate Study is still under review and will be discussedagain at the April 12th meeting and the Community Center has now

been completed with the new paint and landscaping and I would like tothank Mr. Eric Cadenhead for volunteering his services and the cityUtility Department for their hard work as well and a big thank you toThe Town Planters Society for their contribution of the new

landscaping in front of the building. After receiving a recent letter Iwould like to recommend that before any information about the city isspread to others in the community that you come and get the factsstraight instead of just going by hearsay and this i s in regard to the factthat we do not have a city manager, we have not had bags of moneymissing that belonged to the city and that certain areas of the city aregiven special rates for water and sewer and that money has beenmisappropriated within the city and the reason for the discussion of therate increase has nothing to do with the existing grants that the city has,

but does have something to do with future grants being available if wedo not increase the rates and that sewer systems are being put in by thecity where no one is hooking up therefore, this is the reason for us tohave a rate increase, quite the contrary as we have not recently put inany system where people are not hooking up and we have adopted a 5year plan for the city to go by for the priorities to better the city and weare working on the infrastructure for the city with the coming growth.Again please come and inquire and get the facts straight prior to

repeating information that you are not absolute positive about.

Beginning in April the city council meetings will change from thesecond Tuesday at 7:00 PM to the second Tuesday at 9:00 am and thefourth Thursday at 7:00 pm to the fourth Thursday at 6:00 pm. Pleaselet me know how we can better serve you in this community call-

850-835-2822 or drop by the city hall.

We have however been advised that because of its unexpected popularity, availability is very limited and is now on a first come first serve basis.

Experts Are Now Calling It, “A Game Changer For Internet Users”

As part of the special promotion due to end March 23, 2016, a group ofMicrosoft Gold Engineers teamed up with innovative new software provider

SaferWeb, to provide the latest ID Protection thats just gone viral.

If you have a desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone connected to the internet, your activities could be monitored and private information collected whenyou’re Online shopping or banking. Even just browsing online is a risk in2016. SaferWebs primary objective was to eliminate this by boosting securityand ensure eavesdroppers cannot make sense of your encrypted communica-

tions. Technical Lead John McBride, from SaferWeb explains; Ourmain objective for creating the app was pretty simple. We wanted to

help users protect their Online footprint and eliminate the risk of anyonline, banking or personal information being stolen, monitored orhacked”. Every person is at risk, photos you share, info you share,

even secure sites have been hacked and are NOT telling you!

Healthmark Health Matters-Caring for elderly parents

Adult children often serve as caregivers for aging parents. This may be due to illness, accident or theinevitable decline brought on by advanced age. Are you

prepared for the role? It is important to talk with our parents about their health and safety.

Caregivers must monitor the health and independenceof their aging parents. We must evaluate their generalcondition and ask ourselves, are my parents safe in theirhome? How well are they taking care of themselves? How are their mental attitudes? Are they having

difficulty getting around?Caregivers must also be prepared for an emergencyand should make a list of their doctors, allergies, medications, surgeries, insurance information and otherimportant details. Discuss long-term care, living willsand other preferences. These are steps we can take tohelp aging parents maintain their independence.

We begin by observing our parents closely. Do they appear to be taking good care of themselves? Failure to keep up with bathing, tooth brushing and other basic grooming could indicate dementia, depression or physical impairments.

Are parents still connecting with friends? Have they maintained interest in hobbies and other daily activities? Look aroundthe house. Any big changes in the way your parents do things around the house could provide clues to their health. Neglectedhousework is another red flag.

Everyone forgets things from time to time. Modest memory problems are a fairly common part of aging, and sometimesmedication side effects or underlying conditions contribute to memory loss. However, according to researchers at the MayoClinic, there is a difference between normal changes in memory and the type of memory loss associated with Alzheimer'sdisease and other types of dementia. Problems such as forgetting common words when speaking, getting lost in familiarneighborhoods or being unable to follow directions may be serious and should warrant an evaluation with their doctor.

Driving can sometimes be challenging for older adults. If aging parents become confused while driving or lose their ability t odrive safely, it may be time to stop driving. To help them maintain their independence, discuss transportation options such astaking a bus, hiring a driver or riding with neighbors, friends and family members.

Consider in-home services. If aging parents are having trouble taking care of themselves, hiring someone to clean the houseand run errands might be the solution. A home health aide could help with daily activities such as bathing and dressing andthere are senior services available locally, too.

It is extremely important for us to talk to our parents openly and honestly. Knowing that we are concerned about their healthcan give our parents the motivation they need to see a doctor or make other changes.Sometimes aging parents won't admit they need help. We should remind our parents that we care about them and want to do

what is best to promote their health and well-being, both today and in the months and years to come.

    Letters to The:

Dear Editor,My family and I have recently moved here from New

Jersey and we read this great little Newspaper here inFreeport. We once had a small paper like this. It helps us keep up

with what’s going on around the area without having toscroll all through all the S. Walton Ad’s. I have a ques-tion though. Is this county going to just focus on theBeach side of this area?

This is a shame not to have Freeport become moreattractive for people to want to relax here away from the

beaches. Most of us can only deal with the sun so much atour age. I hope the development doesn’t cater to just them

I am surprised that there isn’t more advertising from the

local creek clubs for boating and fishing in this paper. We sincerely wish to see this stay for a long time for

there are a lot of new people from somewhere else thathave no idea where any of the local sitting parks and stuffare around here. Keep up the great work.

    Mr. & Mrs. A. Johnson

Dear Editor,I was so glad to see you address the issue of these

businesses that are in Walton county doing ‘shotty workand people scamming you for money. Tell on it!

I have been taken advantage of by so many Men sayingthey know what needs to be done. Then they disappearfrom site with the work half complete. Thank you forhelping my husband finish the room expansion and deckwork. It turned out excellent. My friends and guest loveit. You are a good Man to do what you did to help us.

    Thank you, Betty Jo

Dear Editor,I have been following online for several years now and

I must say you do go after the wrong do’ers. It hasn’tmattered to us who they are either. We love how straight

forward you tell it like it is.We look forward to every edition you print.
