Vicar’s Desk

Dear Brothers, Sisters and Children in Christ,

Our God is an awesome God. He reigns from heaven above, with wisdom, power

and love. On April 9th 2017, we shall be celebrating 10 years of love and

ministering together as a church. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we must

look back and remember our past years. We must use this opportunity to thank

God for the great fellowship, happiness, and smiles. We must thank God for

establishing us as St. Peter’s Mar Thoma Church members in this part of the

world to glorify His holy name.

As we are Marthomites, our origin and roots are basically from Kerala (India), but

as we live in United Kingdom, its quite natural and normal that we experience the

western cultural. With the difference or change in culture and living styles, we

eventually face lot of issue. The solution for the issues is within us and within our

family. Looking back to the times of our forefathers, although they faced issues

and problems, they never stopped worshiping the Lord Almighty. As a result of

their faith and obedience to God Almighty, they were blessed, and even became

blessings to others as well. May I request all members to come together and

actively participate in the 10th year jubilee program of our Church.

February 26th 2017,is the start of the the season of Lent, wherein millions of

Christians around this world observe a period of fasting and self disciple. Lent

can also be any excellent time of self-examination, self-commitment. A time to

discipline ourselves, in habits, patterns, and a time of preparation for the

awaking of one’s soul by means of bible study and spending more time in prayer.

Therefore, may I suggest few things we all can strive to do during the lent season?

1) Try Electronic fasting – giving up TV and social media.

2) Create daily quite time for prayer and bible study.

3) Forgive someone and mend broken relationships

4) Cultivate a life of gratitude - be kind to someone each day.

5) Skip a meal or reduce it and set aside the cost of that meal to be used for

charitable purpose.

The members those who are elected for the year 2017-18, should be preparing

themselves to work in His Vineyard. These should be a commitment in your

calling, vision about other and accountability of your doing. It is to be taken

seriously.

“May good Lord help us to lead a meaningful Christian life”.

“May resurrected God bless you all....Happy Easter”.
