V. Answer the following:-

1. What are domestic animals? Give two examples?

Ans. Animals that live in and around our homes are called domestic animals.

2. What are omnivores? Give two examples.

Ans. Animals that eat both plants and meat are called omnivores. Eg. bear, crow

VI. Do you know?

Ostriches can run faster than horses and the male ostrich can roar like a lion.

Millions of trees are accidentally planted by squirrels that bury nuts and then

forget where they hid them.

VII. Activities:-

1. Talk about endangered species of animals. Each class to choose one such

animal. (for eg. tiger, black rhinoceros, Siamese crocodiles, sea turtles, African

elephant, orangutan etc). Discuss what will happen if we do not act to protect

these animals and how we can make our own little difference by making a

promise to protect these animals. All the students to draw a heart sign, write the

promise within the heart sign, along with, if possible, a drawing of the animal

chosen.

2. Draw and colour the pictures of any two animals and write whether they are

wild/domestic/pet animal.

3. Draw and colour the pictures of any two animals from each category (wild/

domestic/pet animals) and write whether it is a herbivore/ carnivore/omnivore.

4. Draw an animal-fact-chain about one animal each from Herbivores, Carnivores

and Omnivores. The fact- chain should have at least five clouds with an

illustration of the animal, its habitat, its young one, the food they eat, and

information about sounds they make.
