On behalf of St. Monica Catholic School, I would like to thank all of our community members for their gener- ous donations. This sum is a tremendous amount, which will further enhance our children’s edu- cational experience at St. Monica’s! Please attend our monthly CSPC meetings to further engage in conversations and parent planning of school-wide events. Meetings are open to all parents, and not just Council members consisting of chair, co-chair, treasurer and secretary. Inside of this month’s newsletter please take your time in reading the back to back surveys provided on salmon coloured paper. Our annual survey regarding your child(ren)’s attendance at St. Monica for September 2016 is to be completed and returned to school. This will enable us to better plan our class- rooms for the 2016-2017 academic year. Our CSPC is planning a spring parent engagement night; please complete the survey found on the reverse side in order for us to better prepare for this event. Students of the Month (February)

Teach us O Lord to always for-give others. We know that forgiveness can be hard to give especially if we are hurting, but we also know that it is the right thing to do. For you always love us and forgive us all our sins. Forgiveness brings us closer to you.

“Then Peter came and said to him, ‘Lord, if another member of the church sins against me, how often should I forgive? As many as seven times?’ Jesus said to him, ‘Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven times.” (Matthew 18:21-22)

On Feb. 18th, our Intermediate girls continued in their winning ways by collecting yet another pennant (basketball) in a strong North Division. One week later, under the continued heavy prac-tice scheduled imposed by coach Della Pia, the girls competed at the Regionals held at Senator O’Connor. Although, winning their first two games, they fell short 10-6 in their semi-final match against St. Conrad’s.

Under the direction of Ms. Neufeld all gr. 4 to 8 stu-dents competed in this year’s Geography Challenge. For the first time, this year’s questions were assessed exclusively on-line. Congrat-ulations to our top students: K a i t l y n C r o m b e e n (intermediate champion) and Benny Rocha (junior champion).

Above: Our i n t e r me d i a t e boys competed at St. Edwards on Feb. 17th. T h a n k s t o coaches Mr. Erechook and Ms. Moscillo for a great sea-son.

This year, thanks to the efforts of Madame Mota-Amaral, students enjoyed Carnaval in two parts: on Feb. 18th students enjoyed Gregg LeRock at the Ran-dolph Theatre. Above, hockey players enjoyed a spir-ited game at North Toronto arena on Feb. 23rd. Above: Ms. Clifford’s students
