The Three Year Economic Savings Program THE THREE YEAR ECONOMIC SAVINGS Program was established by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad in 1964. This program called for black people to pool their resources by having 5 million wage earners to contribute $.05 a day, $.25 a week to help fight against poverty, want, unemployment, abominable housing, hunger and nakedness of the 22 million black people in America at that time. The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan re-established this program in October 1991. In December 1994, we were able to purchase, with contributions from the Three Year Economic Saving Program, some farmland located in Bronwood, Georgia. This land is located in the northeast corner of Terrell county, which is in the southwest part of Georgia, not far from the Florida border. The farm consists of 1556 acres of land that stretches 1.45 miles east and west and 2 miles north and south. The farm, which is called Muhammad Farms, was once part of a 4500-acre farm owned by the Nation of Islam until the 1970s. Under the direction of Dr. Ridgely Abdul Mu’min Muhammad, worn out weed-infested, hard rock clay land has been transformed into arable land and workable soil which brought back birds and wildlife. Annually the farmland produces 400,000 pounds of watermelons, 12,000 pounds of vegetables, and 100,000 pounds of wheat. The act or process of repairing and 2. The act or process of making amends; expiation. Most people know about the past and continued cruel treatment of Black people in America by Whites and their unjust political and economic systems. This treatment, during and after slavery, cannot be denied and reparations to repair the damage done to Black people are justified. However, when one repairs an object, one intends to use that object again; therefore, separation must come with reparations so that White folk cannot continue to abuse Black people. So I want you to see how God began civilization. In the Book of Genesis, God starts creating all these wonders: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the waters. And God said, “Let there be light.” It’s great stuff. Then God starts creating animals and whatnot; and then He came and said, “And there was no man to till the ground.” Think about that! That’s the first thing that a man was supposed to do, “to till the ground.” God said there was no man to do that work, so when He made Adam, Adam came into a “Garden” just like you: You were born, you come out your mother’s womb, and you look around to see everything that you need is right here! The Sun is here, the Moon is here, the Stars are here, the Trees are here, the Land is here, the Water is here. And you are here. But how come you and I are here non-productive? What was the Command that God gave Adam? He said, “Multiply, replenish the earth, and subdue it.” Do you think He was telling Adam to just have babies as in “multiply”? He was telling him that, yes. And I think that’s the part of The Message that we got! However, we didn’t get the real meaning of “multiply.”

If what we eat and drink keeps us alive, then we must be careful of what we eat and drink, because the same that keeps us alive can bring death to our life, as there are so many of us who do not know the kind of food and drink that we should eat and drink for long life. Living under the guidance of the enemy of right and the God of the unrighteous is a very dangerous position to be in. This is just the position you and I, the poor, righteous so-called Negroes (lost-found members of the aboriginal Black Nation), are living in. Poisonous food and water we are now eating and drinking -- sometimes too much poison to kill poison that is in our food and drinks. And, maybe it is the wrong poison for us human beings, whether it is in food or in drinks. Take, for instance, the use of fluoride, chloride, and sodium, which if not used correctly can destroy our entire life. Maybe it is best to find something else that will clear our water without killing both us and the poison in our food and water. The scientist should not advocate the use of such poisonous chemicals as fluoride, chloride, and sodium, which may have a bad effect on our brains and our human reproductive organs. The scientist that uses such poison on human beings wants to either minimize the birth rates or cause the extinction of a people. D.D.T., which is sprayed on food while it is growing up from the earth, is also a poison that should not be put into the human body, regardless of the desire to kill insects, that loves to dine on the same food on which we dine. The poison may not take instant affect on us, as it does the insects, but it can, over the long years, help shorten the span of our lives.

Jeffery Smith back in Phoenix On Thursday, February 21, 2013 Jeffery Smith was the keynote speaker at Shadow Rock Mountain Campus. The talk was entitled “The Health Gamble of Our Lives” and was sponsored by ASU Global Institute of Sustainability. Mr. Smith is the author of several books among them Seeds of Deception and Genetic Roulette. He has recently produced the film Genetic Roulette, the Gamble of our lives. If you would like to know what a GMO is, a genetic modified organism, Mr. Smith is the person to consult with. He is considered the foremost expert or the father of the subject of GMOs. There were 400+ people in attendance and 3/4 of them it was their first time attending a GMO lecture. To understand what a GMO is here is an example that Mr. Smith gave. BT is a pesticide that is used to kill insects. A gene of this BT pesticide is shot into corn cells. Then the corn plant is cloned and 100 million acres of corn is grown and sold to us. Then the question is: how do you avoid GMOs?

Six ways to waste less food and save (1) Never buy more vegetables than you can prepare or eat before spoilage occurs. (2) Try to buy produce that hasn't been shipped from long distances and/or stored in warehouses for long periods of time. An ideal option would be buying from local farmer's markets. Another would be gardening as much of your produce as possible. (3) Reading ingredient labels is important, and so is noticing the dates on perishables, especially dairy. Those usually have "sell by" date or just a date. (4) Be conscious of what you have in your kitchen, and schedule preparation or consumption accordingly. For instance, some apples, lemons, other citrus fruits, avocados, and bananas will show spots starting to go bad before others that were recently purchased. Notice them and consume those first. (5) Be creative with foods on the verge of spoiling. Use spinach with carrots in your juicer. Bananas going too soft can be used in smoothies or for making banana bread. Those are just two examples. (6) Ditch the plastic bags as soon as you get home from shopping, or don't bother using them at all. Use paper bags, no bags, or those re-usable mesh bags sold in some grocery stores and online.

In the News Amazing Fact #18 HFCS manufacture begins with starch extracted from genetically modified corn. With all the corn industry propaganda out there about how high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a natural sweetener, you might be forgiven for thinking HFCS is simply squeezed out of a corn plant like sugar from sugar cane. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The first step in making HFCS involves turning corn kernels into corn starch. Since more than 80 percent of all corn grown in the United States is genetically modified (GM), and since corn from different fields is all mixed together in huge silos before processing, this means that basically 100 percent of HFCS is GM. The GM corn is fermented slightly until the germ and endosperm can be separated and ground separately, then both components are washed repeatedly until the starch can be removed and dried. This starch will then be boiled, distilled, and mixed with enzymes to break it down into a 100 percent glucose solution known as corn syrup. But even all this is only a first step: this “normal” corn syrup will later be intensively processed to make the final product, HFCS.

Amazing Fact #25 Regular corn syrup is 100 percent glucose. It is only the addition of toxic chemicals that turn some of that glucose into fructose to make HFCS. Have you ever looked at a food label and wondered why it lists both “corn syrup” and “high fructose corn syrup” (HFCS)? In fact, corn syrup and HFCS are two separate substances, with the former needed to make the latter.
