I am pleased to announce that Bishop Burbidge will be here on Pentecost Sunday, June 11, 2017, to celebrate one of the annual diocesan adult Con- firmation Masses. More information follows inside the bulletin. This past Sunday, I had the opportunity to distribute Holy Communion from some locations other than my normal "station." I have to say that I was really surprised by the great number of people who walked out the door right after receiving Holy Communion. I know that there are some legiti- mate reasons that one might need to leave Mass early -- illness, caregiver needs, etc. -- but I have to think that some people may just be trying to make a quick "escape" from the parking lot. If this applies to you -- maybe a good Lenten resolution would be to try to stay the duration of the Mass, that is -- until the priest has recessed out of the church. We might all take a closer look at our devotion to our Eucharistic Lord during this holy season. Sincerely in Christ,

Dear Parishioners, We are moving into the third week of the Lenten season and Easter is grow-ing ever closer. At the Easter Vigil this year, we anticipate six individuals entering the Church through the Sacraments of Initiation. These individu-als participated in the Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion at the Cathedral of Saint Thomas More in Arlington on Saturday March 6, 2017, where Bishop Burbidge presided. Please keep the following "folks" in your prayers as they continue their journey to full initiation in the Church: Stephen Phillips, Joan Smith, Carol Elias, Karis Fedor, Somi Williams, and Melissa Fernandez. I am pleased to announce that Bishop Burbidge will be here on Pentecost Sunday, June 11, 2017, to celebrate one of the annual diocesan adult Con-firmation Masses. If you are an adult in good standing with the Church, but for some reason you have never been confirmed -- I would encourage you to consider participating in a short series of classes we will be hosting this May, in preparation for the Sacrament. More information follows inside the bulletin. This past Sunday, I had the opportunity to distribute Holy Communion from some locations other than my normal "station." I have to say that I was really surprised by the great number of people who walked out the door right after receiving Holy Communion. I know that there are some legiti-mate reasons that one might need to leave Mass early -- illness, caregiver needs, etc.

Hush Screening The Respect Life Committee is partici-pating in a U.S. wide screening of the full-length film HUSH on Wednesday March 29 at 7pm in the school cafe-teria. HUSH is an incredible, interna-tionally acclaimed, award winning documentary, directed by Pro Choice Canadian, Punam Kumar Gill, and is a well-researched, "pro-information" examination of the health effects of abortion and miscarriage on women. Following the screening there will be a testimony from a local woman con-cerning her experience of having an abortion. The one day release is exclu-sive to US campuses. Hush filmmak-ers heard strong, positive reactions from the campuses who showed the film last spring on the Canadian Cam-pus Hush Film Tour and we know that it is going to dramatically impact the audiences on campus this year in the United States as well. A member of Silent No More, a pro-life organization which works to bring public aware-ness of the effects of abortion as well as healing to women & men suffering from the physical and emotional pain of abortion, will also speak following the film. We invite you to view the film Trailer at hushfilm.com/#trailer. If you have any questions, please con-tact Barbara Carrescia at 703.729.9631 or [email protected]. Many people today consider them-selves “spiritual” but not “religious.” Over half of American adults do not regularly attend church, and only 20% of Catholics born after 1970 attend Mass. This seminar will help us re-spond to this alarming and growing trend. We will explore key reasons why active involvement in the life of the Church, especially the Mass, is Christ’s will for his followers and pro-vide valuable information to share with family and friends who do not attend Mass. Offered July 3 - 24, 2017. Register today at https://cdu.catalog.instructure.com/. Use Promo Code CDU15ARLINGTON to qualify for the $30 rate.
