Marburg Z: This is a possible contagion for the Twilight Biohazard entry in the survey on p. 280 of Twilight 2000 V2.2. The disease is a filovirus that has combined with a prion to form a hideous pandemic. Originally bio-engineered bacteria was posited, but this is based on a disease being researched in at least three labs in Russia, left over from Soviet weapons projects. This virus is initially airborne, but mutates to contact with fluids, usually bites. Marburg Z Transmission: Initially airborne, later contact with infected blood or saliva, typically through bites or wounds. Infection Number 7. Symptoms: Sudden severe headaches, fever, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, diarrhea, fatigue Diagnosis: Difficult Misdiagnosed as: Ebola, Hemorrhagic Fever, Typhoid Fever, Typhus. Treatment: Relieve pain, fever +1, intravenous fluids +1 Course of the Disease: Incubation: 2D6 days Phase I: 1D6 days, patients begin hemorrhaging from eyes and ears at the end of the phase. Phase II: 1D6 days, prion lesions start in this phase. Base Recovery Number: 25 Failed Recovery Death Probability: 10 Postrecovery Debility: none, occular bleeding stops in 1D6 days. Survivors have reduced vision, and , half INT, CHA and EDU reduced to 0. They have melee at Novice skill regardless of previous NPC level before infection. The ocular hemorrhaging has given them a name among the uninfected: The Weepers.
