In addition to managing and disbursing donor gifts and overseeing a sound investment strategy and portfolio, the mission of the Genacross Lutheran Services Foundation is to provide the resources necessary to enrich the lives of those we serve.

As we reflect on the past year, the Foundation is proud to have financially supported the current organizational endeavors and strategies, as well as to have assisted in the provision of essential resources needed to examine and initiate new ventures.

In addition to endowment funds that provide for organizational stability and change, the Foundation maintains individually sponsored endowments in the amount of $2.7 million. These endowments are funded by individuals who are passionate about a particular cause or program of Genacross Lutheran Services.

One such endowment, the Genacross Staff Benevolence Endowment Fund, was created to support Genacross staff members in times of tremendous need. The funds provide immediate financial relief when such catastrophic events occur as the death of a family member, the destruction of a home as a result of fire or flood, or the need for non-insured medical care for an immediate family member. In 2018, two distributions were made from this endowment. These disbursements assisted two employees with a $1,000 grant each.

These and other endowment and gift fund disbursals are only possible through the generous contributions of our many donors. The 2018 market value of the Foundation endowments was $16.4 million. As Genacross responds to ever evolving market needs, further growth of the endowments is pivotal to maintaining existing initiatives as well as in the expansion of new service sectors and programs.

To assist donors in their gift planning, the Foundation has developed a philanthropic naming rights policy that provides guidelines to supporters who are considering an individually-sponsored endowment or other planned gift in their honor or for that of a loved one.

As we enter 2019, we are excited to assist in providing the capital necessary for the expansion of current service delivery options and, in addition, to lay a foundation for a new and expanding blueprint for the future. Through each of your annual or planned gifts, you join us in transforming the lives of those we serve.

Thank you for your generous support!

Sincerely,

David A. Polzin, Chair Kathleen B. LemmerbrockGenacross Lutheran Services Executive Director Foundation Board Genacross Lutheran Services Foundation
