Putting safety first

One of the reasons Electrolux chose to replace its particleboard shelves with MantaMESH® wire decking was safety, both during and after fire events.

Solid shelving such as particleboard can allow fire to spread throughout lower levels before activating roof-mounted sprinklers. Once on fire, wood-based shelving such as particleboard or timber pallets loses structural strength at a rapid rate. Compared to MantaMESH this creates a much higher risk of shelf failure and stock fall both during and after the fire.
