I apologise that we did not promote this earlier and give parents more warning. We will endeavour to do this next year. We had a small group of parents attend the morning tea session on Monday. Students have been involved in Huff and Puff each morning. Art activities have been taking place each lunchtime for our older students and students have taken their skipping skills down to the median strip in town to show off their talents. PREP INFORMATION EVENING Last week we held a prep information evening for our 2019 prep students. We begin our planning for 2019 in early August so it is important that we inform parents of the enrolment process and provide them with a snapshot of our school. It was wonderful to see so many families and to meet prospective and current families. If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child who was not able to attend the information session, please let them know school tours are every Thursday. An appointment can be made by ringing the school office. SCHOOL COUNCIL With the resignation of our School Council president, an extraordinary meeting was held to vote in a new President and a new council member. Congratulations to Naomi Hall who accepted the nomination of School Council president. Naomi has three children who attend our school. She has been a school council member for several years and is currently on our newbuilding committee. Naomi is on the finance committee and parent and friends committee. Her input into school decisions has always been professional and valued. On behalf of the school community, I congratulate Naomi and am looking forward to working closely with her over the next 2 years. The challenge for our school is to improve communication and feel that everyone has a voice. At times, we seem to have got it right, whilst according to other parents, we have it wrong. I am going to take the middle platform and acknowledge that YES, some of what we do is positive, however there is much room for improvement. Thank you to the 95 families who completed the survey. PRINCIPALS REPORT Hello Families, It has been a couple of huge weeks at Mansfield Primary. COMMUNITY LINKS TEAM SURVEY The survey that the School Council Community Links team put on survey monkey has proven to be a valuable tool in listening to your feedback on communication at MPS. The challenge for our school is to improve communication and feel that everyone has a voice. At times, we seem to have got it right, whilst according to other parents, we have it wrong. the nominated school council vacancy. Neil has also been a school council member for the past 16 years. He has had three children pass through our school and his youngest daughter is in Grade 6. Welcome back Neil! Our school council for 2018: Naomi Hall (President) Cameron Dobson (Secretary) Matt Currie (Treasurer) Kate Stonnill Joel Olver Neil Allen Alisha Forrest Ross Hopkins Vickie Van der Hoeven Julie McInnes Tom MacMunn Phill Brown Joanne Richardson Fiona Wareham All parents are invited to attend school council meetings. The dates for future meetings are: 25th June; 6th August; 3rd September; 15th October; 12th November; 10th December. Meetings commence at 7.00pm until business is completed. MICHAEL CARR-GREGG Last week, our school community was invited to attend a presentation by Michael Carr Gregg. Michael is a renowned psychologist who has written many books and works closely with government sectors to improve child welfare. For those of us who were able to attend, the message was

very clear. Parents, who put a smart phone in the hand of a child, prior to 13 years of age, are exposing them to experiences they do not have the maturation to handle. Kindest Regards, Julie Mcinnes LOST PROPERTY As you can see we have an enormous amount of items in our lost property including jumpers, containers and swimming gear. At the end of every month, ANYTHING remaining in lost property will be washed and placed in our second hand uniform sale. JOLLY JOGGERS Jolly Joggers is on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning. It is a great way to start the day and earn some extra points for your house. Meet Miss Driessen at the downball wall at 8:30am. Everybody is welcome! BOOK AMNESTY If you have any school books at home can you please return them to school. We currently have an extremely large amount of ‘lost’ library books. Some date back a few years. There will be no questions asked if they are returned. Our library is a great resource for our students but we need to make sure the books get returned.

Sport News NEW SPORT SINGLETS……………………………….. Mansfield Primary is lucky enough to have such great support from parents and businesses in the community. With generous donations, we were able to purchase new sporting singlets for our students to compete in at a Divisional, Regional and State level of competition. It is hoped that these singlets will give a sense of pride to our students when competing and when representing our school. Proud to be a part of this amazing school and proud to live in such a great community. We would like to give a very special thank you to the Jacob Family, High Country Fresh, the Clydesdale Family, Paton Air Helicopters and the Edwards Family for their generous donations. I know it means a lot to the children and to the staff here at Mansfield Primary. So thank you.

GRADE 6 TIMBERTOP HIKE……………………………. Monday 14th May saw all the Grade 6s head up to Mt Timbertop for their first training day, starting to look at clothing, equipment, fitness levels and mental capabilities for their G6 School to Summit camp in Term 4. Weather was perfect (lucky we postponed) and it was a great day out with the 6s. Some found it physically hard, while others found it mentally challenging hiking in groups. Well done to all Grade 6s and special thanks to the parents and staff that came along on the day as extra helpers.
