Biography

• Born in Wellington, New Zealand, on October

14, 1888.

• Educated in London.

• She wrote under the pen name of Katherine

Mansfield.

•

Real name was Kathleen Mansfield.• Highly influenced by Oscar Wild.



• Mansfield was rebellious, adventurous in

nature.

• She had friendships with members of the

literary community of the day, including D. H.

Lawrence and Frieda von Richthofen.

• She died of a massive pulmonary hemorrhage

in January, 1923, at the age of thirty-four.



Style of writing

• She has greatly influenced short-story writingright up to the present.

• she was an originator of the modernist style
