Managing Universal Waste State and Federal regulations require Texas Tech to manage universal waste generation in an environmentally-conscious and responsible manner. Quantity Management & Packaging • Pack waste appropriately. Do not overfill collection containers. Different waste types have different container fill limits. Do NOT fill past ¾ full Label Container with Universal Waste Label • Complete all fields on label. Circle the appropriate waste type. In option 4. list any other waste – thermostats, pesticides, ballasts, etc. Quantity can be an estimate if you have large numbers. Provide storage location. Can be building and room #. Some wastes can be dropped off at the EHS office, Room 122 in the Administrative Support Center PRO TIP: Use a clipboard to track number of items in container Date # added Light & Emergency Ballasts Wound Motors Do NOT fill past ½ full Submit Online Pick Up Request • All universal waste pick up requests must be submitted online at www.ehs.ttu.edu . Pick up can take up to 1 month due to the high volume of waste requests across campus.
