III DEFINITIONS 3.1 What is a ‘correct’ combination? A combination is an element specific to a product. It is made of one or multiple groups and their attributes. As an example: A pair of shoes exists in black and red, and in size 5 and 6 This product will have 2 groups: color and size Each group will have 2 attributes: black/red and 5/6 The product (pair of shoes) will therefore have 4 combinations: Black | 5 Black | 6 Red | 5 Red | 6 A combination can include a price impact, a price different from the base product. Important note: If you are using a specific module to manage your combinations which by-passes Prestashop mechanism, you will need to display the attributes in a single column to be able to modify the properties of this special combinations – see chapter XI below. 3.2 What is the difference between an attribute and a feature? An attribute is a variation of the product. For instance, the same product can exist in multiple colors or different sizes, as seen in the above example. In PrestaShop as well as in Store Commander, we call these colors or size combination attributes. Features are additional information about the products, such as weight, material, country of origin, etc. Taking the previous example, the features of the shoes would be: Upper: leather Inside: synthetic Sole: leather Country: France

This information, as opposed to combinations, has no impact of the product price. The features are displayed in the ‘Data Sheet’ tab of the product page on your shop.

IV COMBINATIONS MANAGEMENT AREA The same way as the Products panel, the combinations grid, located in the 3rd panel of Store Commander’s interface, allows you to modify the following information for each combination.

Simply double-click on a cell to edit it and modify the data.

Tips

You can use the ‘fast navigation’ mode, represented by the toolbar icon ,which allows you to select a line in the grid and edit it in one click of a mouse.

You can use the copy/paste option for all editable fields in the combinations

grid. Select the line and with your mouse in the column where the data you wish to copy, right-click and select ‘copy’. Then place your mouse in the same column but on the other product line and this time select ‘paste’.

The field ‘stock available’ of the product will be displayed on a grey

background, when it uses combinations, and therefore becomes non-editable. This field is modified according to the quantity added to the products combinations.

V CREATING/ADDING PRODUCTS COMBINATIONS With Store Commander you can create or add combinations to a selected product. Creating a new combination is slightly different than adding another combination to a product; we will see how the two differs. 5.1 Adding combinations to products with no combination

Once you have selected the product onto which you need to add combinations, open the Combinations panel in the Properties column

Enter 1 in the box on the toolbar and click on the ‘add’ icon

By default, the Attributes and Groups window will open up for you to select

the group or groups use by the combinations

Once the selection has been made, click on ‘Create new combination’ on the toolbar. In this example we are selecting 2 groups.

Back in the Combinations grid, you can see that a column for each group selected has been added.

Now double-click each cell to select the attributes for each group and each

line (a line per combination). Enter any other information needed.

The first combination has now been created. You can add more by entering the number in the corresponding box on the toolbar.

Note: When multiple combinations exist, Store Commander makes it easy for you to identify the default combination for the selected product with its ID being displayed in blue color.

Watch the above steps on this video

5.2 Adding combinations to products with existing combinations To add other combinations to a product already using combinations, simply add the number in the corresponding box on the toolbar, and hit the icon next to it.

Once the number of requested line is added, enter the necessary information in each field. Although you can add new combinations using the existing attributes groups, you cannot add new groups via the interface. To add new attributes groups, you need to so with the CSV import tool as described in this article. 5.3 Specific case: the color palette The color palette is not considered as an attribute and is therefore handled differently than a standard combination. It tells which color group to use on your front office to display a color palette on a specific product page. A product can be available in colors that are different from another product. For instance a womens’ jacket can be available in black/brown/red and a mens’ shirt sold in green/grey/blue. This is the reason why the color palette has to be enabled on each product individually ; to do this, go to the Products panel > References grid. Once the colors combinations have been added to the product, you can enable the color palette to then be displayed on the product page.

5.4 Adding combinations in bulk via CSV Import Store Commander allows you to quickly create new combinations using its integrated CSV import tool.

You can refer to our CSV import Guide downloadable on our website. 5.5 Tips Whenever you add a combination using the attributes groups present, if you add a text in the Reference filter box before clicking on the add icon , the Reference fields of the newly added combinations will be automatically populated with the text you previously entered. This can also be applied to ‘Supplier Reference’ field.

VI ASSOCIATING IMAGES TO COMBINATIONS 6.1 With Store Commander’s interface The combinations grid includes an Images grid on the right-hand side, which allows you to associate products images to selected combinations. Simply select the combination and then tick the image(s) you want to associate. If you want to associate the same image(s) to multiple combinations, select them beforehand.

Note that you can also add new images directly from this combinations>images panel by clicking on the icon. A color code of the ‘Used’ column is here for you to quickly identify whether the images are used by the selected combination(s):

Light grey: image not used Dark grey: image used by at least one combination Purple: image used by all selected combinations

6.2 With Store Commander’s import tool Store Commander allows you to quickly associate images to your combinations automatically with its integrated CSV import tool.

You can refer to our CSV import Guide downloadable on our website for detailed information.

6.3 Tips Whenever you click on an image, the combinations using the selected image are automatically selected (on a yellow background). You can then easily find which combinations use the selected image.

VII DUPLICATING COMBINATIONS ONTO OTHER PRODUCTS When you add new products to your catalog and would like to associate combinations that already exist but for another product, no need to recreate manually these combinations for each new products using the Prestashop back office. Store Commander is here to save you precious time. Thanks to its ‘copy/paste’ option, you can simply add existing combinations in bulk onto your new products in just a few clicks.

From the Products panel, select the References view from the drop-down

menu

Select the product using the combination you wish to associate to the new products

With your mouse in the ‘Combinations’ column, right-click and select ‘Copy’

Then select the new products (CTRL + SHIFT or the key if you are working on MAC or click on the ‘Select All’ icon )

With your mouse in the ‘Combinations’ column, right-click and select ‘Paste’

Upon refreshing the grid, the combinations have been pasted onto all selected products.

Tips

Following the copy/paste of existing combinations onto new products, note that all combinations information has been pasted. You will therefore need to edit the newly added combinations to modify some specific fields, such as prices, references, etc.

Also note that if combinations exist for a product onto which you have

copied/pasted another one, the original combination will be kept. Copying/pasting a combination does not overwrite existing combinations.

If you have multiple products, which are going to use the same combinations, you can set a ‘template’ product first and then use its combination information to copy/paste onto all the others. As you read earlier, this can be performed in just a few clicks!

Images associated to combinations are not copied in the above process

because they are technically associated to the base product and not to the combinations.

If you wish to add new combinations as well as images to your products in

one go, this will need to be carried out with Store Commander’s integrated CSV import tool.

You can refer to our CSV import Guide downloadable on our website for detailed information.

VIII EDITING/UPDATING COMBINATIONS PRICES IN BULK Store Commander includes a number of time-saving features for you to manage your combinations in bulk. These can be found in the products pop-up menu.

Sell price exc. tax: changes the price excluding tax of combinations of the selected product

Sell price inc. tax: changes the price including tax of combinations of the selected product

Quantity: changes stock availability for combinations of the selected product

Set the cheapest combination as default combination: sets the default combination of the selected product as the cheapest combination

The above bulk editing actions use the global price (base product price + combination price) and not only the impact of the combination.

Store Commander also allows you to set the price of a base product with the price of its default combination. The option can be found under Catalog > Tools > Set product prices to their default combinations prices.

This option will change the prices of all base products using combinations, so this induces a global change on your catalog.

IX MANAGING COMBINATIONS IN MULTI-STORES MODE

First of all, let’s see what multi-stores management is about in this video As you have seen in the video, a new grid has been added to the Properties column, called ‘Multistore: combinations’, allowing you to view combinations of multiple products (selected beforehand) on shops they are associated to. And of course edit and modify various information in this grid.

You can for instance, sort by attribute name, filter by combination using id_prod_attr), apply the same modification onto multiple combinations using the copy/paste option (right click). You can download the Multistore Management User Guide to learn more about managing various shops with Store Commander.

X DISABLING COMBINATIONS WITHOUT DELETING THEM A Store Commander add-on is available allowing you to perform the following operations on your front office in a single click:

either deactivate products combinations in Store Commander's combinations grid without having to delete them from your store

or deactivate all combinations using a specific attribute which has become obsolete, again without having to delete them from your store

When the add-on is installed on your backoffice PrestaShop, a new column ‘Used’ will be introduced in the Combinations grid as well as in the Attributes & Groups window (Catalog menu). If you are working in multistore mode, this ‘used’ column will also be displayed in Multistore Combinations grid, allowing you to enable/disable combinations in specific stores.

You will find the full description of this add-on on our website.

XI MANAGING YOUR DISPLAY SETTINGS Store Commander allows you to display your combinations in two different ways:

1 column per attributes group 1 column including all attributes groups

This is set within Store Commander’s interface, Tools > Settings

The default setting displays the combinations as we have seen in this guide, one column per attributes group. With the alternative setting, all attributes groups are displayed in a single column called ‘Attributes’.

XII CREATING COMBINATIONS IN BULK WITH CSV FILES Using Store Commander’s interface when creating/updating a few products combinations is easy and quick enough, as we have just seen in this guide. On the other hand, if you have hundreds or even thousands of combinations to create or modify, Store Commander can also save you invaluable time with its integrated CSV import tool. With this tool, you will also be able to associate images to your products combinations automatically, not to mention updating your combinations prices in bulk.

You will find detailed explanations on managing your combinations with CSV files in our CSV Import Guide downloadable from our website.
