1. Management Summary System Center 2012 End point protection has been used to manage the Windows 7, Windows server 2008, Windows 8 and Windows server 2012 for managing the Antivirus definition. Since the windows server 2003 is out of support for patching and AV management, the McAfee agent has been installed on the severs to protect from malware attack this setting has been configured in the console.

1.1 Objective

This document will provide a work instruction to the appropriate support teams to stop from getting installed with the SCEP 2012 on the servers on top of the existing Antivirus.

1.2 What can be managed

The Widows server 2003 is managed by the McAfee clients for the antivirus and antimalware protection since it’s out of MS support the McAfee is used for the protection of the servers from external threats.

2. Work Instructions to use the Client settings

2.1 Click the Administration workspace.

In the navigation pane, click Client Settings -> Create Custom Client Device Settings.

In the results pane, type Windows 2003 McAfee Servers, and then on the Ribbon, click Properties.

Manage Endpoint Protection client on client computers would stop from SCEP installation along with the SCCM client on the machines or servers.

Increasing the Client Setting Priority:

This is necessary to manage the client agent with the single antivirus or antivirus malware protection and would stop the machines from receiving the default server settings which is enabling the SCEP 2012 installation and management.

Increase the priority of the created new client settings so that it would over ride the default policy of the estate.

Right click the policy-> Increase Priority until the highest “2” Priority.

Deploying to collection:

Select the created client settings -> from the ribbon Deploy the policy and choose the collection

->Windows 2003 McAfee Servers.

Right click -> Properties -> Membership Rules -> Add Rule -> Direct Membership and add the machines one by one which need to be managed by the McAfee so that the machines in the collection would get excluded from the SCEP 2012.
