The civil rights movement was in equal rights for the blacks and whites. Civil rights is the right that you get because you are an American. White people were more important than blacks. Now people don't have to move off the bus for whites. The civil rights movement was a centuries long battle 1865 end of slavery. 1909 naacp is found, the president allowed black people and white people can be in the same class room. 1963 John F Kennedy introduced the civil rights act. No more at some of the places. Blacks and whites can't drink in the same fountain .The civil rights movement was an important part in the history of the world. Civil rights was about everybody gets an equal opportunity to have a good life. Lots of people have had to fight for civil rights. On a video it says during the civil rights movement war between the North and the South, president Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation freeing slave in the southern states that were still at war. 1955 rosa parks and the Montgomery bus boycott.

Since the early 20th century southern jim crow laws had kept white and black apart in public. Black could not vote in 1965. 1968 Martin Luther King got shot. No matter what color you are you they can't change you and you didn't have to go past the test. in 2008 Barack Obama became president. To understand the civil rights movement, you have to understand they history of the movement.

Influenced largely by Malcolm, in the summer of 1 members of SNCC called for black power for black people. Their lack of power was the foundation of Malcolm’s charge that they were denied human rights in America. Twenty-year-old Malcolm little had been arrested on suspicion of burglary. Malcolm X family was denied his death benefit. Malcolm X was killed February 21, 1965

In 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation. Martin Luther king Jr. got arrested many times but he didn't fight back. Martin Luther king Jr. Didn't want violence. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. speaks to a large crowd. King, raised in a family of well-off preachers, is considered one of the greatest speakers in American. Dr. King was a great speakers and a brave man. His speeches about civil rights made thousands of people join him. Martin was put in jail, and his house was bombed. I Have a Dream" speech, which boosted public support for civil rights. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X were civil rights figures, They spoke often of Black empowerment over whites’ schemes that would get Blacks to hate themselves and lead to feelings of inferiority. Malcolm X was four years older than King, but they were both just 39 when murdered: Malcolm X in New York’s Audubon Ballroom on Feb. 21, 1965, and King in Memphis on a balcony at the Lorraine Hotel on April 4, 1968. They spoke repeatedly about the value of Blacks spending their money in their community to grow their businesses and build wealth. They also believed love without economic power was weak. Both men talked in speeches of dying for their causes. Each had received countless death threats and ultimately believed their demise was imminent. The two men spoke out for oppressed people not just in America but all over the world, and they made clear their opposition to the Vietnam War.
