They say memories are golden
Maybe that's true
But we never wanted memories
we only wanted you.
A million times we've needed you
A million tears we've cried
If love alone could have saved you
You never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still
In our hearts you hold a special place
Nothing could ever fill.
If tears could build a staircase
And heartache could build a lane
We'd walk the path to heaven
And bring you home again.
Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.

Malcolm Jeran Minnifield was born on January 23, 1993 to Myron
LaRahn Minnifield and Lynn Mari Sheppard in Omaha, Nebraska.
A beautiful, sweet child, Malcolm brightened the lives of his
family with his infectious smile and easy temperament.
Malcolm grew to be a talented, hard-working student
“a pleasure to have in class” and a gifted athlete. With
his quick, irreverent wit he made friends everywhere
he went. Malcolm graduated from Central High in
the spring of 2011.
Malcolm entered the University of Nebraska at
Omaha in the fall of 2011 with a full scholarship
and plans to transfer and pursue a degree and a
career that would make use of his impressive
and growing artistic abilities. In addition to his
studies, Malcolm worked at Jiffy Lube, a job he
enjoyed because he loved people – he also loved
having his own money.
Malcolm’s life was short in terms of years but the impact he made
in the lives of his family and friends is inestimable, he will be
missed.
Love Letters Malcolm,
I love you and you have grown up to be a fine young
man. I’m glad that we shared another chance of
closeness together.
Your Mom,
Lynn Mari

Dear Malcolm,
My, how times fly! Just yesterday you were small enough
to bathe in the kitchen sink. Now you’re nearly an adult.
The time went so fast because you were so easy to mentor
and easy to love. You have made me extremely proud to say,
“I’m Malcolm’s Dad.”
You are no big on words, but are extremely big on character.
I have no words to truly express my sense of pride. My face
just is not big enough to contain my smile.

Dear Malcolm,
I am so proud of you. You are a fine young man
with many great attributes. I could not be any more
proud of you if I had picked you to be my Grandson.
You have the potential to be whatever you want to be.
You are almost a Rocket Scientist. You are not afraid
of hard work and always a gentleman. I have
watched you grow from that beautiful boy into this
handsome young jock. I know that growing up is not
easy but that saying somehow eludes you.
You are always loving and always kind. And unlike
the rest of your family, un-opinionated. Tell me
how did that escape you?
You truly live up to the name Grandson because you
are grand. I truly adore you.
Remember to always acknowledge God in all of your
ways and he will direct your path.
Don’t be afraid to dream and to pursue your dreams.
The only difference in try and triumph is just that
little “umph” at the end.
May God bless your every endeavor.
Beautillion 2010 Love always, Grandlady
