The Location – A Holy City
The Holy Haram is the most sacred place for Muslims around the world.
The permanent population in Makkah is 1.6 million (2009).Access restricted to Muslims only2 Peak Periods Hajj : the annual pilgrimage. Ramadan/ the Umrah pilgrimage : The smaller pilgrimage distributed across the rest
of the year (nine months of Umrah period).
3.3 million visas for the period of Umrah in 2009, of those 40% arrived during Ramadan.

Integrated Makkah Public Transport Program (MPTP) approved by KSA

All phases of the MPTP approved by full public funding
MPTP - the 10 year program implementation will result in Metro Network of
114 km in length and 62 stations. As well as an integrated Bus system.
