MAKE UP INSPIRATION

I have researched into the style of makeup i would like my models to have and i’ve chosen to have my models make up very dark. Purple, dark red or black lipstick with thick winged eyeliner or heavy eyeshadow. In the rock industry makeup and clothing is very important, it is used to show the rebellious ‘i don't care’ attitude that is widely used throughout rock music, the music is very extreme and therefore the clothing and makeup is too. Rock artists like to be different and it shows in their makeup, black lipstick and heavy eye makeup is not the usual ‘go out’ style and isn’t always accepted by other people. Rock music and style is made to shock people which is what the heavy makeup does. My target audience is deeply interested in the music however they do care about fashion and makeup too, it makes them who they are and why they are different to others. People like to look up to their idols and copy them, they like to be able to show off that they are proud to be different just like their idols. My models will have similar make up to Taylor Momsen, she is very popular in the rock industry and is known for her signature heavy black eye makeup.

CLOTHING INSPIRATIONAfter researching into my chosen genre typically women are usually represented as

'masculine' such as Hayley Williams who usually wears a t-shirt with skinny jeans and vans. Therefore I have chosen to have my models dressed in 'feminine' clothing such as dresses and skirts. This helps to continue the styles of grunge and rock with a rebellious and dangerous attitude. Rock music is usually associated with men, there are more all men bands than all women bands. Men usually wear an old band t-shirt, black skinny jeans and converse or vans therefore I have mixed femininity with the rock look. I think it is important for women to be able to express themselves however they want and break out of the stereotypes of the rock industry therefore my costumes will include dresses and skirts. I will include lots of costume changes so my magazine doesn't become boring.
