“The work is now done much more quickly”Frisian Klaas Ane Jellema has a dairy farm in Sweden with 400 cows. Since 2013, the dairy cows have been housed in a shed with 6 robots and completely free cow traffi c.

The milking went smoothly from the start, but heat detection and tracking down cows became more and more of a stumbling block for Klaas Ane and his three employees. Technology from Nedap provided a solution. Klaas Ane: ‘Thanks to Nedap COWControl, I can save lots of time every day; things are a lot more effi cient.’

According to Klaas Ane, they really had been waiting for such an all-in-one system, including localisation, for years. ‘I always inseminate the cows myself, twice a day. But insemination used to take 20 minutes per cow. Now I or my employees can check the app on the barn phone to see where exactly they are in the barn. I can prepare the straw and then walk straight over to the animal. It saves 10 minutes searching for each cow, and that adds up nicely with the current numbers.’ Based on 400 cows and 1.5 inseminations, he is hoping to save 100 hours per year, calculated in money: 2,500 euros.
