Pre-planning and organisation
Much of the strain can be taken out of your move simply by planning thoroughly and putting the right arrangements in place. As soon as you have decided to move, one of our Moving Consultants can call – it isn’t important to know the exact move date at this stage. You’ll be able to discuss the various options for planning a successful outcome and the
consultant will make a full assessment of all equipment, materials and transport needed.
Particular attention is paid to the timetable for moving day, organising everything for your benefit and ensuring a smooth move. You will receive a free, full, written quotation and will have ample opportunity to ask any questions. You will also receive a copy of our Moving Guide, a valuable source of advice on all aspects of moving home and a detailed guide to the GB Liners moving process.
If you need to put your goods intostore your Moving Consultant can help, with information about the facilities that are available at the Company’s warehouses.
A Move Co-ordinator will be available to you in the lead-up to your moving day and beyond. If you are moving overseas, you can depend on full information about the servicesavailable at destination and customs and import formalities.

Skilled, trained and experienced staff
Keeping your possessions safe is a key priority:
• Clothes travel directly from wardrobeto wardrobe in special transit wardrobes
• Glassware, china and other delicateitems are carefully packed with cleanwhite paper, then boxed in cartons
• Books are packed into small, strongcartons especially provided for books
• Large pictures are wrapped, protectedand boxed for safe transit
• Beds are placed in bedding bags tokeep them clean
• Three-piece suites and flat screens areput into protective covers.
Where necessary, furniture is carefully dismantled and then loaded securely.
All goods are padded and secured to avoid any damage through abrasion or movement and skilled drivers and special vehicles are used for every journey.
On reaching their new home all items are placed in the required positions.If you’ve asked for the unpacking service then the day will end with as much as possible ready to use. It all means that your moving day is as civilised and efficient as it can be.
When the move is over we welcome your feedback, via an in-house quality control form. GB Liners also welcomes feed back through external monitoring carried out by the British Association of Removers Trading Standards Institute (TSI) approved Code of Practice.

The GB Liners’ International Department offers important additional resources and expertise. Specialist Moving Consultants can advise you on a wide range of issues including packing techniques and protection of goods in transit as well as customs regulations and storage requirements. You will also receive
detailed information on the advantages and costs of both air and sea freight – and even advice on how to transport your pets!
Small and large-scale international moves
We can easily handle small-scale international moves, because the volumes generated by our network allows us to offer a shared container service, covering all major destinations. This is a very cost-effective option, allowing you to pay only for the space your goods take up. For less popular destinations we have our own crate-making and packing facilities to ensure quick transit and maximum protection.
For complete home moves, or when volumes justify it, exclusive container shipments are usually arranged as the best-value choice.
Keeping it safe
International moving inevitably means a variety of transit risks and GB Liners will arrange full cover against these risks for the declared value of the goods. As you would expect for international moving there is also an international claim service just in case disaster strikes. We maintain communication at all times.
Moving overseas is a big step. Different cultures, languages, climates, currencies, electrical systems and TV standards all mean that there is plenty to think about. You need to entrust your lifetime possessions to a professional company that understands worldwide moving in depth.

For European Union (EU) countries, customs formalities are now minimal. Elsewhere in Europe, the more complex process can be easily handled by our experienced network of European agents. GB Liners’ vehicles are a familiar sight on the roads of Europe, with central co-ordination ensuring effi cient vehicle movements and timely delivery of both full and part loads.
The service you need
GB Liners offer three levels of service for European moves, guaranteeing the best possible value depending on your exact requirements and on how fl exible your timescales are:
1. Moves with both collection anddelivery dates of your choice
2. Collection on the date of your choice,followed by delivery within a specifi eddate range afterwards
3. A part-load service when timing is nota critical issue, with both collectionand delivery on dates chosen byGB Liners.
Cover against loss and damage in transit can always be arranged as well as storage at either destination or origin.

Storing your home

Specially constructed, secure warehousing
A move into storage begins in the same way as a house-to-house move, with careful advance preparation. Contents are then packed directly into specially constructed containers and sealed up in your presence.
Our warehouses are specially constructed, clean, well maintained and staffed to ensure the best conditions for storage are maintained. On arrival, the containers are fork-lifted into their designated position where they will stay until you request their return. Goods too large for containers, such as ladders and carpets, are labelled and racked. Items such as sofas are wrapped, labelled and stored on racks to avoid pressure damage to fabrics.
The care taken with systematic storage means that possessions cannot be mislaid and your property is protected by containers that keep out dust and safeguard fabrics. Use of the containerised storage system also separates your property completely from that of any other customer, with hygiene and security ensured.
When you need the goods returned, containers can be quickly and easily retrieved from their warehouse position, fork-lifted into a vehicle and delivered to your new home.
Special attention is given to the security of the warehouse at all times, with centrally monitored intruder alarms at all sites, together with fire detection, closed circuit television and video surveillance for additional protection in some branches.
These best-in-class facilities are supported by a computer system that tracks all containers in the group and administers billing and support services. Inspection of the warehouses by customers without an appointment is welcomed.
For many different reasons, you may need to store furniture and effects for periods of time. Whether the requirement is for a short or long period, GB Liners’ container storage system will ensure the safety and well being of your possessions, however long they remain in store.
