Higher staff retention Lower absenteeism Higher levels of discretionary effort and therefore
increased productivity Higher levels of evidence of harmony and absence of
negative behaviours bullying, harassment etc

Outcomes Contd ... Around 309,000 teachers in England took sickness
absence in 2009 (56% of workforce) National Office forStatistics
Stress is the predominant cause of work-related illnessin the education sector: 45% of all absence in education
is stress related (HSE) A survey, from the ATL , suggests 25% of teachers have
been bullied by another member of staff. (2011)
60% of teachers leave after their 4th year, most citing
the reason that it was simply too exhausting. (NUT2006)
