In our line of business, too, changes will hap-pen even faster than they used to. The infor-mation overload and the speed with which this information is flowing alone represent a special demand on the receptive-ness of each person and each organisation. We, too, are not living in an empty space – the prere-quisites, relationships, and networks we are committed to are manifold: goods, services and capital are mobile in a global manner. With this mobility, the entrepreneurial chal-lenges are also growing beyond national borders. Thus, unfortunately, the pollution of the environment is increas-ing, too – therefo-re it is all the more important to accept our responsibility in this respect. We believe that we can fulfil the tasks assigned to us by the future all the more successfully the more we-
cooperate and the better we know how to integrate ourselves into networks of any kind. Beside this integration, however, the individual strengths are not to be forgotten.

For us, the customer is who we are focussing on – the person actually standing in front of a shelf and taking items out of it. What exactly made him or her go to this shelf? Why did he or she choose this shop of all? What can we do to make him or her feel good there? How do we get him or her to keep coming back here? How can we make the simple act of shopping an ex-perience? In order to find answers to these con-siderations, we at Bolliger Söhne analyse each project at first together with the client. During the subsequent development, shop designs are
created, which are committed to psychology as well as aesthetics – and which are executed according to a precise schedule, of course. Only with such commitment we were able to become the leading food shop-fitter in Switzerland. How the Trade Leaves the Shop.
Just recently, everything was still in order: here ‘real’ shops of brick and mortar, there the virtual online trade. But this order has been destroyed irretrievably. The once clearly separated cyber-space has become a new dimension of reality. Brands, shops, and even entire shopping cen-tres have to consider how to interconnect real and virtual world.
Today already, customers enter the shop excel-lently informed thanks to recommendation plat-forms and price comparison portals. In addition, under the key word ‘hyperlocality’, a technologi-cal revolution is approaching: the mobile phone, our constant companion, is increasingly beco-ming an important interface between man and any surrounding objects. We already can com-municate with our sneaker (nike+ iPod). And if in future we see a person in the street, whose T-shirt we like, we simply ‘click’ with the mobile on the piece of clothing – and just like that, brand, price as well as available colours are dis-played, ready to be ordered. Thus, shopping will soon no longer take place in the shops of the sellers only, but there, where the people are right this moment – the geo-web converts the entire world into a huge shopping zone, the crowds of people in the cities into an army of hawkers.
Geo-shopping, however, makes the providers more independent of the location, too. Because shops can be located by GPS localisation with-out any problem, they must not necessarily be situated in highly frequented locations. On the contrary: some shops intentionally move to the top-most level of a high-rise building or to re-mote districts to give themselves the sem-blance of exclusivity. Away from high streets dominated by chain shops and uniform shop-ping centres, customers start to like the disco-
very of new shops. Thus, due to the fusion of on- and offline, the retail landscape has become an entirely new experience: not only the shop itself becomes an experience, but going there as well.
Simultaneously, shops are increasingly losing their function as pure sales rooms; however, they will not disappear entirely due to that. They take over new functions instead. As hapti-cally driven living beings, the consumers long for pleasant physical places of encounter, in which they are surprised, where they can de-tect the undiscovered, look at goods and test them, where contact is possible, but not man-datory, and where they are inspired.
Therefore, in future, shops will increasingly serve as show and experimenting space. They stage worlds of ideas, become showcases, places of experience, local contact points. Shops become places of encounter and learn-ing as well as getting to know one another. The stay in the new shopping rooms will therefore become much more inviting in terms of aesthe-tics as well as interactivity: fewer shelves, more interaction, innovative interlinking of pro-ducts with novel services around the transfer of knowledge. Because in the future, the main task of shop rooms will be to introduce the cli-entele into brand and product worlds.

Perfection on runners:the Rico Peter bob team
Sponsoring a bob team is an obvious choice for the Dolma Group: teamwork, perfec-tionism and proper preparation are features that the two immediately have in common. The assignment of tasks is also similar: you have the pilot and the pushers – it’s only the brakeman that we like to do without at the Dolma Group – unless of course he’s hitting the cost brake. The main goal for the team
Taxi!Usually in February, the DOLMA Group invites some of its customers to enjoy the unique speed experience of a taxi ride down the Olympic bob run in St. Moritz. Well before the start, the adrenalin starts to rush and the nerves begin to tingle as people try on helmets and the running order is announced. Once the announcer has called up the guests and they have had their photos taken, the track is opened: the ride can start. The guest bobs take around 75 seconds for the 1722-metre ride, reaching a force of up to 4.5Gs in the Horse Shoe bend and a top speed of up to 135 km/h going into the Martineau Corner. After the Portago Corner, the scraping of the brake levers signals the end of the ride and the nerves return to their normal levels. The emotional strain might be forgotten, but the experience is not.

As a design-oriented production company, we are successfully active in the business areas of shop-fitting and interior design at a national level.
