NameGetting the right name for a magazine in vital.
I wanted to keep it simple and realistic. I went through many names and decided on PREVIEW after holding a focus group with a tag line of SEE IT HERE FIRST. This tagline links in with the title, being a ‘preview’.

MASTHEAD
I began using this font downloaded from Dafont.com
I edited it on Adobe Fireworks and made part of the word red which i thought looked effective.
After receiving feedback, i got the general impression that it was “childish” and “looked like a pop magazine” “i wouldn’t buy it” which is not the response i would’ve hoped for.
I therefore decided to change the font of the masthead to this font, changed the brightness of the red and inserted the date. It’s bold and simple and follows conventions of a masthead.

PictureThe photo is a focal point for a magazine front cover. It is one of the first things the audience see and therefore it has to be successful.
A bold image, with my actress looking at the camera is what i went for on the photoshoot. I am currently in divided opinion about two photographs and am collecting some audience feedback to help me make my decision.

Editing software
I felt that Adobe Fireworks was the best software to use as I am confident with it and it is easy to construct a product on this.

Adobe FireworksI used a variety of fonts in the construction as i wanted it to be interesting with most of them taken from the fonts within Fireworks.
I utilised the many tools available such as the ‘blur’ tool which made the model seem much more integrated into the page.
I added a background of lined paper, using the multiple tool and transition tool to effortlessly blend this in, and to be a subtle, yet effective background

BarcodeI produced the barcode using a font downloaded from dafont.com
It was very important to have a barcode on the page, as this follows conventions and looks more professional.
