The words ‘northern uproar’ are in red – this matches three of the band members ties, and other splashes of red featured on the cover e.g. top line, arrows. This ties the cover together and goes with the colour scheme – black, red and white. The barcode is put in the usual place for a magazine, in the bottom right hand corner. The lead singer is reaching towards the camera, making the reader feel connected with him. There is also a quote from the interview with them – “It’s okay to die – Gerard Way” – this gives the reader an idea what the interview will be about.

‘150+ albums’ interests the reader as they want to find out what the albums are.

‘Marilyn Manson, movies and mayhem’ – this uses alliteration and the rule of three to engage the reader. ‘Mayhem’ would interest the reader and make them want to buy the magazine to find out it means.

The list of bands at the bottom are written in yellow and white over an orange background – this ties in with the colour scheme and makes it stand out against the picture, which is mostly black. If the reader likes the bands they will be more likely to buy it to read about them.

‘Nevermind anniversary special’ entices the reader because it is a special edition so it’s rare. ‘NME’ and ‘Nirvana’ are in

There is a chance to win limited edition items advertised, and it says ‘see p29’. This makes the reader want to buy it so they have a chance of winning.

The band, Nirvana, are in the top third of the page making it easier to see them when the magazine is on the shelf.

The quote entices the reader and makes them interested in what the article will be about. It gives a feel of what kind of article it will be.
