PROJECT PROMOTE: Association ”Always Building Together” Vaslui
Mapping and assessing ecosystem services in Natura 2000 sites of the Niraj-Târnava Mică region
EcoNatura • Project title: The impact ecosystems of protected areas in the custody
of Bihor County Council and Cris Country Museum on the main economic sectors
• Results: • Report on the state of protected areas and Natura 2000 sites, development
perspectives and protection and conservation measures • Report on the economic status of protected areas and Natura 2000 sites, the
development perspectives and economic measures for sustainable development
• Report on the possibilities of economic capitalization of protected areas and Natura 2000 sites, development perspectives and economic measures for sustainable development
ValueEcoServ - The evaluation of protected areas ecosystem services in Romania
ValuEcoServ main objectives:
• Increase the level of knowledge regarding the natural and semi-natural ecosystems’ contribution from protected areas to main economic sectors in Romania;
• Support the decision markers in design policies regarding integrating economic value of ecosystem services into national accounting and reporting systems;
ValuEcoServ approach:
• Hierarchical view from local to national; stepwise approach from ecosystem service identification, ES hierarchy and finally valuation (including monetary evaluation); based on system complexity; as inclusive as possible (in terms of social actors)
• Proposed a methodology for ES valuation based on integrating multiple tools from social to economic methods in a coherent manner
Regional
Local
ECOSS • Project title: A study into the economic and ecological potential of conservation
enterprises to enhance the local economy, ecosystem services, and biodiversity in the Fagaras Mountains Natura 2000 site (ECOSS)
• Main goal: To contribute to the enhancement of ecosystem services, the preservation of biodiversity, and an increased value of the natural system to society and the economic sector through preparing a programme of nature-based enterprises in the Fagaras Mountains Natura 2000 sites.
• Activity results: An assessment report on biodiversity and an ecosystem analysis of the Fagaras Mountains; A socio-economic study of the area; Two reports on identifying the relevant economic sectors and its impact on ecosystem services and biodiversity; A report on ten potential business opportunities and the preparation of ten business plans; An analysis tool of the business proposal and training sessions for FCC team; A planning guide for a multifunctional conservation and local development centre; A policy recommendation document for supporting the conservation enterprise concept; Promoting materials, press releases, web and social-media articles and meetings with the stakeholders.
