History & Purpose of MAEOS
• The Myers All-American Equal Opportunity Scholarship was founded by Rickey
Myers Jr in 2012. As a young man, Myers was denied from receiving a
scholarship because he was not a specific race, gender, have a specific test score
or have a certain economical background which created barriers for Myers and
other students in the same situation from applying and participating in various
scholarships programs. Due to other scholarships he received in high school &
college, Myers graduated debt free from the University of Florida and is now a
coordinator for a national non-profit. However there were many career, social,
and cultural opportunities missed because of different rules, laws, regulations,
and contingencies attached to particular scholarships.
• The Myers All-American Equal Opportunity Scholarship was designed to ensure
that all students regardless of race, color, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual
orientation, status, learning disability or handicap, future career goals, or test
score status, the students have a right to apply for a scholarship without being
obligated to fulfill or meet several different requirements in the future.
