Centuries of Development

Crafting the Mora Knife

Knives have been made in Mora, Sweden by the people who actually use them since the 17th century and Morakniv® blades have ended up in the hands of people all over the world. Mora of Sweden continues its manufacturing in Mora to maintain control of production and quality.

A Morakniv® blade is extremely sharp and has a sharpness that lasts. Our knives always utilize high-quality knife steel that is optimally adapted to the tasks for which the knife is intended at prices that make sense.

We always begin with the task for which a knife will be used. Then we choose the steel. Sometimes carbon steel is most suitable, sometimes a laminated steel is required and, in many cases, a stainless steel is the right choice. During grinding, the edge and honing angle are adjusted to exactly match the knife’s use.

Part of the secret of knife manufacturing is heat treatment. That is where we use the steel’s unique properties to increase the knife’s durability and reduce the risk of corrosion.

We have developed these processes together with world-leaders Sandvik. It is from them that we obtain the cold-rolled Swedish steel that we use to make our stainless steel knives. In fact, we can actually track the steel for our knives all the way back to the mine.

Industrial Revolution is the exclusive US and Canada importer of Morakniv products. We provide these great products to several markets including Outdoor, Hunting and Hardware and work directly with retailers of all sizes. We also support the efforts of our other Distributors in various segments of the knife market. These Distributors include Blue Ridge Knives, H.L. Dalis, Liberty Mountain and Ragweed Forge, among others.
