Woodlander offers a range of original corporate development

courses which are highly enjoyable yet challenging and educational.

In our experience Bushcraft and Survival based team building

courses offer far more potential for expressing individual creativity

than traditional team building workshops.

We have formulated our courses to bring out the very best in

individual team members by allowing them to develop their self

confidence through creative expression and group participation.

Our scenario based activities requires team work and creative

thinking. We encourage all participants to “think outside the box”

when dealing with a survival situation.

Our scenarios have been designed to make full use of attributes

such as problem solving, memory, communication, imagination,

delegation and prioritisation. We have lots of different themes on

tried and tested formulas - we give you the instruction, the materials

and the aim - they sound simple but you have to make it work.

The teams are required to pass a series of challenges such as

building a shelter, lighting a fire, cooking a meal etc. There is also

a fun night time activity if you wish to include this. Our courses are

designed to be fun, and is suitable for participants of all ages

and abilities.

Clothing

Sensible outdoor clothing is essential for all of our courses and

we recommend that you bring clothes that dry quickly.

You will need a hat (also one to sleep in if cold), a waterproof

and windproof jacket, a couple of wool jumpers or fleeces* and a

selection of long/short sleeved t-shirts. In colder weather it is better

to wear lots of layers of natural materials rather than really thick

jumpers. For trousers, do not wear jeans as these are slow to dry,

but workwear/combat trousers are ideal. Hiking/walking boots are

essential as they have good grip on all terrains and you may also

prefer to bring some Wellington boots if it is wet. Depending on the

weather, we also recommend that you bring thermal underwear,

several changes of socks and we recommend a spare pair of

trainers to give your feet a rest.

Please bring

A camp chair or piece of foam (unless you prefer tree stumps!)

and some snacks. Relevant reference or field guides so

you can add your own notes for plants, animals and insects.

Camera/batteries (please note: there is nowhere to plug

in chargers!) and a pair of binoculars.

Other

Please do not bring your own knives or any other cutting tools

as you will be loaned appropriate equipment when necessary.

At no times should an axe be brought or used without prior

confirmation from our staff.

*Wool is better than nylon fleece material as this can melt

when touched by sparks.

Course cancellation and variation

We will always endeavour to stay as close to the course programme

as possible and will only cancel or change a course should the

natural world throw something unexpected our way.

This usually means severe weather, some deviation in this respect

can be beneficial to learning and we would only consider cancelling

a course should the conditions compromise safety.

If you are considering in holding a team

building course we are always happy

to show you around with no obligation

and to discuss ideas for your event.
