How you’re protectedWe use Vigil Intelligent Fraud Protection tohelp protect your Visa Debit card 24 hours aday. We continually watch for unusual transactions made with your Visa Debit card.If we spot something out of the ordinary, we’lltry to contact you to make sure you have authorised the transactions. If we can’t reachyou, we may put a block on your Visa Debitcard rather than run the risk of fraud.

Simple steps to avoid fraudThree simple steps that can help to protectyou from becoming a victim of card fraud:

•Keep us up to date with your current contactdetails including mobile, work and homephone numbers. This lets us contact you if wenotice something unusual happening on youraccount.

• Let us know if you are heading overseas.Send us your itinerary and overseas contactnumbers before you travel. This way we won’tbe alerted by transactions on your accountmade in unfamiliar locations and you won’t be inconvenienced.

• Check your statements regularly, reviewingall purchases or new charges over the previous period and call us immediately if you find any suspicious transactions.

We will never ask for your password or account details to be disclosed via a link within an email message. If you receive anemail of this nature, please disregard theemail, delete it from your computer and contact us immediately.

Baby boomers would recall in the 70’s thebank manager told the truth. That was partly why the bank manager, the local doctor and sheriff were respected and valued community members. They could berelied upon to give honest guidance andfeedback.

Those born later may not have ever experienced true banking unless they havebeen fortunate to have been a member of amutual organisation such as a credit union.

Somewhere along the way many in mainstream banking seemed to shift theirfocus to putting sales results ahead of the customer relationship. Dividends to shareholders took priority over customers.Profit maximisation was the only goal. Thishowever, is not the case at The Mac.

Our focus is doing what is best for you andtelling the truth. At times that means we maygive you an answer you don’t like but hopefully you will respect it as being in yourbest interests. For that is what we are about– providing you solutions and helping you toachieve your dreams.

Why pressing Creditcould save you moneyWhen the cashier asks you ‘Savings or Credit?’ Use Credit.Credit and payWave transactions with your Visa Debit card do not count towards your ‘8 free savings transactions’. This means that you can make asmany purchases as you wish without having to worry about exceeding yourmonthly limit (it is $1.50 per savings transaction once you exceed 8). Keep inmind when withdrawing cash you must press Savings and this will come fromyour 8 free transactions.

When you press Credit on your Visa Debit card, you’re spending your ownmoney, so remember to make sure that there are enough funds available in orderto make your purchases. Please remember, some merchants have surcharges ifyou use credit. Be sure to check this before you make a purchase.
